High Lord Torin

Aoibhín believed that my children would be more human than shapeshifter, but I am beginning to wonder if they are something like shapeshifters with shorter lives.
Torin's Note: This is likely an unfounded hope on Seanán's part. He is extremely emotionally attached to his children, Bébhionn in particular. I have tried to discourage such wishful thinking, especially since it will only wound him when they mature. However, for the purpose of the experiment, Aoibhín and I, who are more neutral, will observe his children to determine their mental complexity.

Torin was the first High Lord of the colony. He is primarily known by history as the supervisor of High Lord Seanán, and oft-forgotten by students assigned to name all the High Lords. However his 93 years of rule shaped Tír na Creatlach, and thus the modern Kingdom of Crathlia, forever. A major source of information about his character is found in Seanán's diary, quoted above, which was annotated by Torin throughout the first fifteen years of the colonization.

Personal History

As a shapeshifter warrior, Torin fought for over 100 years prior to the colonization. The colonization was effectively his retirement from combat, replacing the usual role of teacher to young shapeshifters. He spent the first years watching over Seanán, the primary subject of the "experiment."
After the Council's decision to raise human girls for the sole purpose of becoming wives, Torin became the first to run one of these compounds. He emphasized submission and the girls' eventual status as the mothers of the world's saviors.
He died in a naer attack aged 289.
