The Exalted

The Origins of The Exalted

The Exalted is the term given to the ruling and noble classes of Aurorum, comprising various families and bloodlines of mixed races. Following the collapse of the Nakhasi Empire, multiple groups, including former Nakhasi nobles, commoners, merchants, and soldiers, sought to restore its glory. These factions adopted a form of religious zealotry, believing the Empire's fall was part of a divine process of shedding weakness until reaching a perfect form.

The Fragmented Decades

In the decades after the Empire's fall, these groups fought relentlessly. Some merged to form stronger factions, while others fell, honing themselves into fiercely zealous organizations. This period was marked by intense conflict, with these groups vying for power and dominance.

The Intervention of Zun

Zun, observing the fervent fanaticism, saw an opportunity. He appeared before these factions, claiming he had been away protecting the world, only to return to chaos. Scolding them for their disunity, he commanded that the strongest should lay claim through force, promising to exalt the victors above all others. This decree sparked an era of unprecedented violence and war.

The Dark Ages of Central Alathor

The central region of the continent descended into chaos, entering a dark age. The violence was so intense that cities and states on the continent's edges ceased interacting with the central region, focusing instead on forging their own kingdoms and states. This isolation allowed the formation of solid borders, leading to the establishment of Yeoria, Kataria, Kyokuri, and Virondia. Helvania, distanced and isolated, remained relatively safe and uninvolved.

The Rise of The Exalted

Despite the initial chaos, one group within the central region began to establish dominance. Through ruthless combat, strategic alliances, and religious fervor, they forged themselves into an unstoppable force. This group eventually became known as The Exalted, the undisputed rulers of the region.

The Founding of Aurorum

The Exalted founded the capital city of Aurorum, quickly expanding their influence and control. Their religious fanaticism and formidable military power, combined with an elite fighting force known as "The Empty," made them a seemingly unstoppable force in their conquest of the continent. The Empty, believed to be warriors with no fear or hesitation, further cemented The Exalted's power and control.

The Exalted’s Impact on Neighboring Regions

The rise of The Exalted had a profound impact on the neighboring regions. The isolation and safety these regions enjoyed began to wane as The Exalted's power grew. Their expansionist ambitions and formidable military might posed a significant threat to the newly established kingdoms and states, forcing them to fortify their defenses and prepare for potential conflict.

The Legacy of The Exalted

The Exalted’s rise to power reshaped the political and social landscape of Alathor. Their religious zealotry, combined with their military prowess, created a formidable empire that threatened the stability and independence of neighboring regions. Their influence and power continue to shape the dynamics of the continent, with the threat of their expansion ever-present.

Conclusion

The Exalted, forged in the crucible of post-Nakhasi Empire chaos, emerged as a powerful and feared ruling class. Their capital, Aurorum, stands as a testament to their dominance and ambition. As they continue to exert their influence, the neighboring regions of Yeoria, Kataria, Kyokuri, Virondia, and Helvania must navigate the complex political landscape shaped by The Exalted’s relentless quest for power.
