Zun-3 Kidnaps Bulan & Creates "The Empty"

3005

Zun-3 kidnaps Bulan to manipulate life forces in effort to extend his lifespan. Under duress, Bulan was forced to resurrect an army of soulless soldiers known as The Empty, whose repeated resurrections left them hollow and lifeless. These soldiers fueled the expansion of the Exalted, a fanatical empire that threatened the very existence of Alathor.

Zun-3 had no desire to find a reduction in his power or to pass on, at any point, the Zun Power, and so began searching for ways to extend his life and charge. One of these attempts involved finding and forcing Bulan to join him, in the hopes that her power over the lifeforce that flowed through Alathor could somehow be used to extend his charge.

One by-product of the forced experiments was the creation of what would become known as “The Empty” – under duress, Bulan was compelled to continuously resurrect fallen soldiers of the Exalted. These soulless, hollow beings were now trapped in a cycle of undeath. With each resurrection, they lost more of their essence, becoming little more than automatons.

As the Exalted expanded their dominion, fueled by The Empty’s near-immortality, their rule became a threat to all of Alathor. Their empire, centered in Aurorum, spread rapidly, with The Empty as their unstoppable vanguard. Other nations, particularly Kataria, began to fear the return of a Nakhasi-like empire, but worse, as this new force was driven by religious fanaticism and Zun-3's ruthless ambition.
