Cinder Cat

Cindermaw by Carl Van Laguun

The Cinder Cat of Godai is a predator of extreme levels of danger. They pretty much one of the most vicious land predators on the physical plane, as their habitat was originally the fire plane, as one of the many creatures that Achazar created in the dawn of time to prey on the creatures of the divine. Now only a few are left across Godai, within Mizaku a few hunt the Shattered Savannah.

Basic Information

Anatomy

From a distance look the Cinder Cat looks like any large predator cat, like tiger or panther, other than flames lick off it, its fur looks at the base white but as it gets longed it goes to a charred black with flame licking off its end, and as you get close to it, the heat coming off it is at the very least uncomfortable. Their are sleak, which a strong muscular build designed for fast and quick bursts of speed.

Genetics and Reproduction

Luckily for Godai their are slow to breed and may only mate once in a hundred year, but they are affectly immortal unless killed. So while they only slowly increase their population, their numbers only decreased rarely by heroes and madmen managing to kill one in a hunt or because they had no other choice.

Growth Rate & Stages

Cinder Cat Kittens, stay with their parents for around 14 to 18 months till they fully grown and then live in the main a solitary live, which is lucky for everyone as Packs of Cinder Cat's would be a danger to either small towns.

Ecology and Habitats

Obviously as at least partially a fire elemental, it affects vegetation around it, causing a small amount of damage by heat, but unless it using energy in a chase the heat from it isn't great enough to cause fires, but when it running at full speed it does heat up causing fire scars in the vegetation that it runs though. But in the main the creatures are found in more rocky hills with low levels of vegetation.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Meat, in any form be it bird, fish or mammal, the cat's are not picky and will feed of any animal it catches. But for a cat of its size it does seem to need to eat less than what you expect, probably because it at least in part a creature of the elemental planes.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Solitary Creatures unless raising a kitten, where the two parents will spend around 15 months while raising the Kitten.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

The cats have increbily good hearing and sight, while its smell seems to be off compared to more natural cats of Godai, it can react to a noise from hundreds of feet away, and it can focus on movement from, while its detailed vision isn't great, motion both in light and dark is greatly improved over majority of animals. Your best bet if a Cinder Cat is tracking you is to stay still and be quiet and it may not notice you.

Ooh, now that sounds like a nice thing to summon for a wizard..   When they're on the material plane (if they are), do they cause a lot of wild fires? Or do they only hang out in places where that's not really a concern?   If one did show up in a less scorched area, would that be an adventurer-summoning worthy crisis?
