Kundras' Journal
On Day 29 of the campaign (11 Mirtul), Collateral Damage found the journal of Kundras in the Talassan Mountain Temple in the Sword Mountains. The contents of the journal are summarized below:
- Kundras wrote that the mission was going well, but it may need to end. He wrote that capturing the dragonborn (Rayphlárd and Tubby) was worth it for the knowledge they gained, even if they needed to abandon this location soon.
- He wrote about how he had been rolling the bones and casting augury every night, looking for signs that may lead to a breakthrough in his research. That’s what led him to finding the dragonborn and bringing them back to the temple the previous night.
- He wrote about using the orcs to slow down the friends of the dragonborn, also about how gullible the orcs were to believe that their god Gruumsh and Talos were the same deity. He wrote that he was ashamed by the orc half of his heritage, but they served their purpose.
- He wrote about wondering what will happen with the bugbear (Smok), that the agreement Kundras made with Baphomet to give warlock powers to his ritual subjects was one of the favorite ideas he’s had. He wrote about being curious how the bugbear handled his newfound fire-based magic.
- He went back to writing about the dragonborn, hoping they would work as a power source for the lightning rituals for the Cult of Talos. He wrote that using dragonborn to conduct their rituals in a more private way, without having to summon storms and drawing attention, may help them avoid failures like they had at the Tower of Storms and again at the Wayside Inn.
- He finished by writing about how fascinated he was by the bag that one of the dragonborn had, the bag that created beasts under his control. He theorized that he may be able to use the bag's magic to allow the anchorites to shapeshift into forms other than boars and ravens and kobolds.
