Hesperus

The great industrial holy city of Haphestus, built atop volcanic vents and hot geysers whose heat power its factory complexes. That same heat makes the city's lower reaches a sweltering smog-filled hell. In ages past its people were seen as especially tough and practical for elves.
Since its very early days the nobles of Hesperus have isolated themselves to its upper reaches in great iron towers, while the serfs labored in the forges and smelters below. As such since the First Gnosis Hesperus has consistently been the most sparsely populated polis. Its cannibal population mostly content themselves to live in the upper reaches, only leaving via levitation or on dragonback to avoid the lower city's heat. The forges are now worked exclusively by the automata and homunculi to produce weapons and tools for their cannibal masters.
