Saint Ujhe Red-River

Saint Ujhe Kruyoi (a.k.a. The Stubborn)

Saint Ujhe Red-River — known as Kruyoi Ujhe in life — was a Borenae Halfling farmer who lived on the border of what is now the Heartlands and the Southern Stretches where Ujhe River now runs.

Divine Domains

Saint Ujhe is known as the "Saint of Stubbornness", in service to Rudderless, for his refusal to allow the approaching invading hordes of House Vekhen from crossing his land during the War of Six Nights. He is often invoked by those who feel wronged but without recourse, or simply by those who refuse to give ground.   Despite being a canonised Saint of the Church of Eighteen Eyes, open veneration of Saint Ujhe is shunned within the Vekhen Empire (though the irony of this appears not to be lost on anyone). Indeed, he was only beatified after significant campaigning by the Borenae people, who hold him up as a patron saint.

Artifacts

Though neither his fishing spear nor his body was recovered — both being swept away in the river of blood — these artifacts have appeared often across Glüm. The Church of Eighteen Eyes refuses to acknowledge any instances of this, a far cry from their usual policy of recognising relics of dubious provenance. It is uncertain if any appearances of the spear or body have been genuine, though local anecdotal stories tell of both bringing power, and sightings have been linked to the overthrowing of tyrants.

Personal history

Ujhe of the Kruyoi tribe was little more than a subsistence farmer when the hordes of House Vekhen invaded Harmony. As the invaders attempted to cross into what is now the Southern Reaches, they found Ujhe standing firm with his fishing spear in the middle of a small ford. Ujhe refused to let the army pass, saying that their boots would disturb the fish and trample his crops, however the Hobgoblins ignored him and attempted to cross. What ensued was a battle that miraculously lasted hours, with Ujhe refusing to give ground despite innumeral mortal wounds.   Though ultimately the farmer died in the stand-off, he had managed to kill nearly 300 of House Vekhen's troops in the process, the bodies of which were reported to "...[bleed] too freely and swiftly for any mortal being, encasing within themselves an ocean each rather than the litres one could expect." This blood went on to gouge out a much larger river and stained its bed with a gore-red colour.
