Largely earth-like other than the existence of magic and other supernatural phenomena/beings, mostly for sake of convenience and also because there is nothing I specifically want out of changing natural laws; I will not change them just because it seems "cool" or "unique". To change something I must reap some tangible benefit. For example, I could have a year with eight months and only 248 days, but why? I have no purpose for this; I gain nothing but additional questions and complexity (if a year is 248 days, how old is a 20-year-old in Earth years?). The world was initially envisioned as a cube because I didn't want to deal with map projection shenanigans until I figured out how to make projections work.
Cosmology
There is far more value in the conflict between different interpretations of cosmogony than in knowing the "true" one. I will not elaborate on a "true" cosmogony; you will not rob me of my mystery and see my universe stripped bare for your perverse pleasure.
