Holy Enzimian Empire
The Holy Enzimian Empire (Varaso: Imperio Enzimio Sanção [ĩˈperjʊ ẽˈðimjʊ sãˈsãw̃) is an imperial state in Eussis. Power within the empire is nominally divided between imperial authority under an emperor, which evolved from the office of hierarch of the city of Enzim, based in Alvoradã, and religious authority vested in the Enzimian Sanhedrin centred in Enzim, with each originally having had exclusive and shared powers and jurisdictions, but the religious authority has been nearly entirely eroded in favour of the secular authority in Alvoradã.
History
The Holy Enzimian Empire grew out of the earlier Free City of Enzim, a Furanist city-state at the mouth of the Inner Sea, and from which the empire derives its name. By the end of the 23th century, Furanism had spread rapidly to significant populations in the southern Varaso Empire, which itself was experiencing a period of pronounced political instability. The Enzimian Sanhedrin and Cónsulo, the Enzimian hierarch, taking advantage of the situation, and wishing to bring Furanists living outside their borders into an explicitly Furanist state, invaded southern Varas, beginning the Wars of Enzimian Expansion. Many Furanist Varasos supported or took up arms with the invading Enzimians. The Enzimians' use of early gunpowder weapons, which the Varasos had no experience against, also contributed to their rapid success.Government
