The Twelve-fold halls

The Twelve-fold halls of the Protectorates   This organisation is the pre-eminent governor of mages within the Protectorates, its reach stretches across all of the Protectorates with the vast majority of mages at least complying with the laws set out by the dozen spired bastion in Memnos. There are twelve halls of Arcana within this organisation, the Hall of Archaeomance, The Hall of Warfare, The Hall of Illumination, the Hall of Foundation, the Hall of Veils, the Hall of Artifice, The Hall of Delving, the Hall of Ascendance, the Hall of Compliance, the Hall of Cultivation, the Hall of Observation and the Hall of Erudition.   The insignia of the Halls are twelve spires arrayed facing out in a circle around a writhing sea of blue and red and white.   There is also the separate office of Magister, this is the role of the intermediary between the Twelve-fold halls and the Patrician of the Protectorates to advise and give immediate aid to the Patrician and further government that does not require the greater involvement of the halls. The current Magister is Sarvi'kar Tellewi a former member of the Hall of Foundation who now resides in Merpont, with her tower but a short distance from the Azure palace.   Ranks and prominent members of the Twelve-fold halls.   Consort of Arcanalli: Overall leader of the Twelve-fold halls and the only person he reports to in the entire Protectorates is the Patrician, he sits in council with the twelve heads of the halls to pass down the laws and goals of the halls to its members.   Asperix Hosmett, the Piercer of the High Veils, An ancient gnome male with the iris fractured and scattered in one eye such that it bears the image of a galactic disk. His head is completely bald with pale flesh shining but a long white beard braided over and over in tumbling knots that coils in a snaking train behind him as he walks. He has heavy purple robes with intricate embroidering along its cuffs in silver. A raised collar of silver curves up and over his hood with a stylized simple crown embossed with pearls and amethyst as his symbol of office. The symbol of the twelve-fold halls is atop a polished ebony staff with him.   The twelve seats:   Hall of Archaeomance: The Guardians and containers of pieces of ancient magic and things beyond that defy the studied rules of magic and could bring great ruin if left unchecked. They are the SCP foundation in effect and have great vaults dug into mountainsides in Memnos, these Black vaults are rarely opened for anyone else in the world, and objects and entities that enter the vaults never leave.   Adamamant Warden: Overseer of the Black Vaults Yusef Tamlin: the Administrator, A human male in his mid-fifties, he has short cropped black hair and wears a full porcelain facemask with smoked glass over the eyes and an expression of set stone. He wears a simple black robe with slight mythril chain reinforcement sewn into them and a silver sigil of the halls on his chest.   Hall of Warfare: The true Battlemages of the Protectorates, they are wielders of the elements for the purpose of destruction, they are also capable of more nuanced forms of magical conflict, they often accompany the navy in fleet actions against pirate holds and monsters terrorizing the merchants or in dealing with incursions of monsters and tribespeople along the Drakenchain.   Polemarcki: Mistress of Flame reborn Infer'nasali Velya: the tears of the Phoenix, a wild elven female at some eight hundred years old yet looking barely over a hundred with bronzed skin fading to golden at her forearms and hands. She has a huge main of scarlet hair bound with a single fist-sized ruby at its end, she also wears a series of sky blue earrings shaped like teardrops.   Hall of Illumination: The bearers of weaved fate and the toil of century, these mages are those that strive to push the boundaries of divination, attempting to twist fates to bring warning of dire events ahead of their announcement upon the serpents scaled path. They are often competitive with the Hall of Scrying.   High Ocular: Horator of veil and fog Ashni Kodelaphi: The grey-eyed sage, a forty year old half-elf woman, she is very thin with a very androgenous body with a wild head of frizzy platinum blond hair and solid grey eyes with a faint swirling fog within them. She has a series of eye tattoos going down both her arms of a purple and yellow eye open, half closed etc running down to her palms.   Hall of Edifice: The shapers of the bones of the earth, soil and stone and sand, they shape great edifices and arcane buildings whilst studying that which they shape. Many wizards towers and grand fortresses have been shaped by these wizards.   Masonic Aurden: Stone-blessed Gundren Orecaller: The unmoved Argent, a one hundred and eighty year old male dwarf with a short-cut but very bushy brown and grey beard that covers the entirety of his lower face. A series of small silvered scars pock around his eyes and exposed parts of his face. He wears a set of thick leather goggles on his face as well as heavy robe in brick red that has the same sigil of the Twelve-halls but his robes appear more like a heavy leather jacket and a has a waxed hood to pull up over his head.   Hall of Veils: The outlookers to beyond the Veils of air that wrap tightly around Genovar, this hall works to capture the powers of the heavens and the vast mysteries that the inky void holds. They work great observatories and study the strange artifacts that fall from the stars. These mages often work closely with the Hall of artifice to create such things as the current incarnation of skyships as well as being skilled in the manipulation of weather.   The Luminarch: The star-grasper Juressi Hvlath'erin: The night-kissed queen, a drow woman with a series of silver stud earrings and a nose ring with very fine almost web-like platinum chains stretching between them. She has a tall willowy frame with purple eyes, wearing a tighter fitting set of blue and silver robes with a fine black lace veil. She also wears a small white silver dagger on her hip as a symbol of Elistraee. She has seven cut crystal lenses floating around her in frames of silver and mythril that she uses to either bring the light of the moon down upon her or to cast her sight beyond the cloaks of air.   Hall of Artifice: The great enchanters and crafter of magical items within the Protectorates, most purveyors and creators of magical items either buy magical items from them or are members of the hall. It is with this hall that restrictions on magical substances are placed as well as the types of items that can be produced. The hall of artifice is perhaps the most permanently busy struggling to keep up with the rampant for magical items that all parts of the Protectorates clamour for.   High Mecharcani: The Grand forger Zednik Springflinger: The Master of Artifice, a fat gnome with overly long gangly arms. His left arm has been replaced with an arcane replacement with large spherical metal balls that pulse with blue light at the shoulder and elbow, the rest of his arm is made of brassy coloured metal cylinder within which can project a pale blue energy shape of a hand or various tools, the metal tube that is the forearm can also reassemble itself to create a long hollow cyclinder capable of firing arcane blasts. His right hand has multiple burns, both acidic and regular, pockmarking his hand.   Hall of Delving: The Ever-delving seekers of history and discovery within the world of Genovar. These mages seek out the mysteries that the world and time have hidden and obscured from mortal memory. Many of the archeological digs and old monuments within the Protectorates that are not directly run by the Hall will have at least an observer from them, the Paneptissa's do sometimes think they are interfering bastards though. They have a rivalry with the Hall of Ascendance and an outright dislike of the Hall of Archeomace as they keep sequestering all the 'interesting' artifacts that they find from the ancient ages.   Grand Archeologue: The Deeoast Alladrin Harkin Abberisk: The Lector of Histories, Middle-aged human male with heavily overgrown eyebrows that look like they could fly away, his goatee is heavily groomed and oiled so it shines despite being black hair. He has a incredibly complex set of eyeglasses with dozens of interlocking lenses and gears that can overlap to reach about four inches from his face.   Hall of Ascendance: Those who cast their sight beyond the plane of normalcy to the realms of gods and monsters beyond. These mages study and interact with the beings and realms of the outer planes to either capture fragments of power from it or to unveil the hidden secrets of creation that are scattered throughout greater reality. These guys fucking hate the hall of Delvers as they think they are blinkered close-minded fools but they keep finding interesting things that are overall safer to get hold of than things from the astral plane.   Pilot of the First seat: Astral Helmseeker Halyun Karremos, the Realmtreader, an old female half-elf with raven-black hair running to silver streaks in it, parts of her skin are tanned purple and blue from the strange light and fogs of the Astral seas, she wears a set of thick smoked glass goggle kinda like an aviators, she also wears a silk wrap underneath a light chain shirt and a silver threaded headwrap   Hall of Compliance: The internal rule-enforcers of the twelve halls, they police the actions of the other mages within the Protectorates, preventing overt necromancy, body desecration, fiendish summoning's outside of permitted actions and sentient sacrifice for example. Their cloaks of Bright green are seen throughout towers, colleges and institutions all across the Protectorates. They also work to hunt down rogue mages, cultists, dissidents and fiends that try to burrow into the society of the Protectorates in 'scouring' teams.   Master of Compliance: Hyallan seat Bluudness Davinoch: The Emerald Guardian, a Forty-Five year old human female with Short-cut black hair, she has a scar that runs across her forehead down across the bridge of her nose. She wears a dark green cloak with a dark red lining on the inside, she wears a crisp white tunic underneath with a golden decal of the Towers upon her tunic alongside a purple set of scales on the other side of the tunic.   Hall of Cultivation: This Hall, while nominally part of the Mage halls, does not concern itself with as much of the arcane as the other Halls do, instead they focus more upon the Druidic side of magic and its role in ensuring the continued prosperity of the Protectorates. This Hall works to prevent blights and other crop failures from interfering with the abundant fields in Aenos as well as ensuring that provinces like Annexos and Memnos do not suffer food shortages as their current populations may not be sustainable with the small areas of arable land they have. This also involves careful management of natural resources such as the Rainwood of Nikos, such that demands placed upon it by shipbuilding do not cripple this vital resource.   Guardian of Bounty: Shepherd of Millions Glyntumal Oakehart, the Calm Quake, is a Blue-furred firbolg standing at nearly eight feet tall, he also has a long tailed moustache starting navy blue at its base slowly fading to snow white at the tips of the hairs that hang down about three feet from his face. He wears a simple woven cotton shirt with several stick and vine homonculi clinging onto his shoulders and around his body which tend to the small housemice, squirrels and the beehive of scarlet-feathered bees that have made their nests on a wicker frame that is draped over him.   Hall of Observation: The Watchers over ocean and Mountain, the mages of this Hall take the more practical aspects of Divination, rather than those fools in the Hall of Illumination, and survey out across the Protectorates, marking weather patterns, incoming threats and new monster dens in areas that in person exploration is difficult to impossible. These mages are also used in information gathering and potential asset neutralization in other countries.   Visathaid: Squire of Sight Alekos Quannadix: A young halfling male born and raised in Memnos, he has walnut brown hair and is blind in his left eye while his right is a deep purple with no white in his eyes. He has a series of eyeglasses framed in steel and silver hanging around his neck and a plain black outfit except for a deep blue half-cape on his back.     Hall of Erudition: Arguably the largest Hall in terms of members, this is the recruitment and training branch of the Twelve Halls. Every member of the Twelve halls no matter how old they are, when recruited, pass through the Hall of Erudition as they train in their magical talents, up to a second level wizard, so they may decide their future courses of research and the magical traditions going on into one of the other Halls.   Headmaster Devrid Bellaan. Devrid Bellaan, is an elderly human male with slick-combed down balding grey hair, his skin is yellowed with jaundice and liver spots with a set of crystal half-moon glasses. he wears heavy red-fur lined robes and a series of thick banded rings on his fingers as well as a series of gold neck rings.
