Primis (Pri-mis)

A town that, before the conquests of Conquertia, was on the border between the nation of Flori and Conquertia. Due to this, it was a place of much military strife, leading up to the Sacking of Primis, the military action that starts the Conquertian calendar.   Recently has started to boom because of coal deposits found nearby.

Defences

The districts, other than the outer industrial and mining districts, are surrounded by short but strong walls that, as the city has expanded, has become absolute, as the population has overflowed past the wall.    The innermost districts are patrolled by a group of guards, keeping the citizens and their possessions safe, but the outer districts are  not kept protected.

Industry & Trade

Many of the inhabitants of primis work in the Mining industry and the related industry as well. The financial district of primis rapidly grows to handle the growing coal industry and exports.    Because of the heavy focus on industry, and it's location in a swamp, Primis does not grow much of it's own food, instead it is imported from other towns. This food is generally paid for with it's coal exports.

Infrastructure

Primis is connected to the road system that connects all of Finndal and recently efforts to pave it have started after a large quantity of coal was found in the area outside the town.    The discovery of coal has also lead to a large verity of mining infrastructure to be built in the town, from rails connecting the mines to the refinement plants and shipping yards that are closer in the city, to those same refinement plants and shipping yards. Even more recently, rail lines have been built to go though Primis, moving people and raw materials in and out of the town.

Districts

The first district a visitor to Primis will likely see is the shipyard, the smallest informal district in Primis, the shipyard is the hub for the many trains, railcars, and roads that go in and out of the town. Further in, the visitor would find the tenement quarters, then as they go further into the town, the shopping district is next, then finally, the financial district and the housing district which sit by the river. A regular visitor may even leave town and go to the mining district to check out the industry there.   The tenement quarters- The largest housing district, where the poor of the city live in, in cramped, crowded tenement apartments. The people who live in the quarters almost never need to go to other districts other than their work one. Most tenements work in the coal mines or other parts of the industrial sector, or running one of the small shops that can be found on the ground level.   The mining district- dedicated to the mining industry of Primis, filled with deep mines into the hills, and giant refinery buildings to process the coal and other minerals that are mined out. The workers of which are often the poorest citizens of the town.   The shopping district- Better described as the market district, this is where citizens sell goods and services, generally, as one gets closer to the center of the town, the shops get more expensive, and often, but not always, better quality.    Housing and financial districts- essentially the same district, the rich and the small middle class live here, and the richest work here in the many financial buildings, working on their business in coal and trade. Working for them, the middle and lower classes work as clerks or in domestic positions.
