STATIC 43: Into the Bonefields
General Summary
Wherein storms rage, vampires falter, and the Bonefields loom under the shadow of a Ghostdragon.
The Storm Lord’s Bargain
The session began with Nero pursuing a personal matter tied to the Storm Lord, a capricious and powerful entity with a mysterious hold on Nero. This meeting, shrouded in stormy omens, reinforced Nero’s bond to the elemental forces he channels. Details of their exchange remain murky, but its impact was palpable—his resolve sharpened for the challenges ahead.Skipjack and New Tools
Skipjack They also brought a hefty new halberd, purchased from a dubious vendor but seemingly suited to their combat prowess. The party’s newly gained Level 13 abilities further bolstered their confidence as they ventured into increasingly dangerous territory.Brassjaw and the Bounty
The group encountered Brassjaw, the interdimensional bounty hunter, hot on the trail of a target—this time, a vampire lord and their necrotic servant. The battle was fierce but brief, with our heroes dispatching the undead threats. Brassjaw, impressed by their efficiency, handed over 500 gold in gratitude before fading back into the planar chaos from whence he came.Hommdar’s Deal
Rare Zoramar and Messelum advised our heroes that a possible avenue to Bonefields lay in interacting with a previous acquaintance--Hommdar, a devilish emissary of the 133rd tract of the The Nether . They summoned this bee devil and he proposed an enticing but morally murky deal: assist him in obtaining a promotion within his infernal hierarchy in exchange for access to the Nether, and, from there, to Bonefields. Seeing little other choice, they agreed. This proved to be quite easy, actually, as Corinna Himmelswander convinced Valvadred that it was in his best interests to vacate his position in favor or Hommdar. With a fearsome show of confidence and no-nonsense intimidation, Corinna forced Valvadred to leave without engaging in battle. Her tactics not only avoided unnecessary bloodshed but also won back Messelum’s piano skills. Nice! With that, our heroes set out for Bonefields. The Ghostdragon Rises
Finally arriving at the Bonefields, the party faced its first major challenge: a Ghostdragon, an amalgam of spectral power and draconic might. This ethereal guardian tested the party’s mettle, its attacks bypassing physical defenses and tearing at their very spirits. The battle was hard-fought, with each member contributing key efforts, but the Ghostdragon was ultimately defeated. Its haunting roar echoed across the Bonefields as its form dissipated into the shadows of this eerie landscape. And That's Where We Left It
We'll see what other strangeness is in store for our heroes during our next session.Varied & Sundry Details
