Talthis
Legate Talthis Nargiom
Talthis was born to a small patrician family within Solden. Talthis began his military career as a centurion fighting against Those of Gaulren. He distinguished himself in the fighting both before and after Vernica joined the conflict. When Vernica betrayed Solden Talthis managed to reform the troops and organize a proper retreat after the death of the legate. Word reached Lotrus of his exploits he was promoted to legate.
Talthis knew his forces were too depleted to fight Evander and his legions in a head on fight so began harassing and simply keeping legions in the field against Vernica. Talthis attempted to keep the damage created by Evander to a minimum to keep Solden in the fight and wait for the Vernican legions to tire or run out of supplies. Both sides were losing a significant number of troops to desertion and was affecting both in a similar percentage. Talthis simply kept his troops in the field and prevented Vernica from getting the upperhand. As The First Republican Civil War progressed and Vernica managed to get reinforcements across the strait and lay siege to Solden, Talthis knew that decisive action was the only way that Solden would survive this conflict. Talthis marched his army to prevent Evander's legions from linking up with the freshly arrived troops. Talthis tried to flank the besiegers and lift the siege so they could then turn to meet Evander's forces, but were intercepted before they could. Talthis turned his army to meet Evander and dug in for a fight, hoping they could weather the storm. Talthis' line was cracking, but still holding. He watched as Evander began making quite the display at the front lines eventually calling out for Talthis to duel him. Talthis knew of Evander's skill in combat, but knew if he could somehow beat him they might be able to turn the tide of the civil war. Talthis met Evander on the battlefield and although put up a admirable fight, his shield eventually cracked under the repeated blow and Talthis then fell to one last crushing blow.
