Lotrus

Consul Lotrus Soldicus

Lotrus Soldicus was born to the prestigious Soldicus family, the family ruling over Solden since its founding. Lotrus was born into a time of constant conflict with Those of Gaulren. For awhile Solden had been getting the upper hand in the fighting, but in the year 1496 C.E. a man known only by the name King of the First managed to rally all of the tribes of Those of Gaulren and begin attacking Solden with renewed strength. Lotrus took was elected as consul during this time and had to deal with this renewed threat. After losing most of the land they had taken in the future province of Red Water as well as a significant amount of land in the province of Solden Lotrus requested the aid of Polipsis after hearing of their success in Albion. To his relief Polipsis agreed and Lotrus agreed to the terms Polipsis set out ceding territory for Vernican outposts to be setup.   Lotrus was delighted by the success the combined forces were having in dealing with Those of Gaulren. In just a year they managed to resecure Solden and were beginning to push into the future province of Red Water. Lotrus was receiving a number of complaints from his people they were setting up temples to Abadar in their outposts which angered them as their patron god was Aroden. Lotrus attempted to just ignore the problem as there was nothing he could truly do as he had given that land to Solden in return for their help. As things seemed to be going smoothly Those of Gaulren began pushing back and destroying these temples to Abadar which Lotrus saw as the resolution to his problems. However, one day he got a report saying the grand temple to Abadar Vernica had been building had been destroyed he realized that ignoring the problem may cause animosity between him and Vernica. He began preparing troops to assist the Vernican legion and as he was about to send them out Vernica formally requested his assistance. Lotrus agreed and sent the legions forth. Lotrus stayed in the capital sending a new legate in his stead while he dealt with matters at the capital.   Lotrus then got terrible news that Vernica had attacked Solden's legions leading to the The First Republican Civil War. Lotrus was mortified and began preparing defenses in the capital itself while sending letters to Polipsis in Vernica informing him of the situation that his general had gone rogue. When he received no response for weeks Lotrus realized that Polipsis had betrayed them and civil war had broken out.   The legate Lotrus sent out was slain in the ambush so Polipsis promoted one of the centurions that distinguished themselves in the fighting by the name of Talthis as legate. Lotrus in the meantime organized their fleet to blockade the straits and prevent reinforcements from arriving. The portal on the arch that connected the two cities remained open preventing Vernican legionnaires from marching across and trade with the old war ceased for the time being.   The First Republican Civil War carried on eventually leading to The Fields of Solden reuniting Solden and Vernica. Polipsis was dead as well as his son Evander so Lotrus became friends with Peresov Nereus, the new consul of Vernica. Lotrus set himself up as pro-consul of the land that would eventually become the province of Red Water and made plans with Nereus to invade the island of Hadasht and punish the deserter legionnaires during the The First Republican Civil War. Lotrus would die of old age halfway through what would become known as the First Hadasht Expedition.
