Battle of Rodip
The town of Rodip was the third town to be attacked by the Dwarven Holds during the First War of the Broken Holds. The battle was the first major engagement of the war almost one and a half decades after its beginning. Rodip was a medium sized town know for its large agricultural industry and horse breeding. King Histoph wanted to secure the horses there to reestablish his cavalry regiment.
The Conflict
Prelude
The Dwarven Forces had recently emerged from the Mydon Peaks after securing their stolen hold and began marching across the plains of Serica. THe Dwarven armies had already destroyed two towns and several villages and appeared to be heading towards the city of Amydon. King Histoph wanted to prevent Amydon from falling and wanted to blunt the forces of the Dwarves and slow them down. King Histoph also wanted to secure the horses at Rodip and begin increasing his cavalry numbers. The Dwarves believed the town to be mostly unguarded and sent a vanguard force King Histoph believed he would be able to take out and fall back before the rest of the dwarves could retaliate.
Deployment
The Sericans managed to get to the town a day ahead of the Dwarven Vanguard force and began to setup camp and prepare to meet the dwarves the next day. In the morning the Sericans began to setup in their battlelines in full view of the Dwarven forces. The Dwarves were very confused and wondered if this was a trap or joke and sat outside the town for about an hour. After surveying the battlefield and assuming the Sericans didn't have anything lying in the wings began to deploy their light artillery they had brought along as well as deployed their musket lines.
The Engagement
Once the Dwarves had finished setting up their lines the Serican commander realized what was happening and ordered his men to charge their line as quickly as possible and destroy their artillery. Usually Serica waited until their infantry had engaged the enemy before sending in their cavalry, but after the opening salvo the Serican commander sent his small regiment of cavalry at their artillery lines before they fully demoralize the army and cause a route. As the cavalry charged the artillery the Dwarven rifle line open fired and shredded the cavalry detachment causing the most to retreat after only inflicting a few casualties on the Dwarves. The Serican infantry line managed to engage the dwarven lines after taking a significant amount of casualties and began combat with the enemy lines.
The Sericans hoped that they would be able to get the upper hand in hand to hand combat, but the dwarven hammerers cracked their lines quickly and once the Serican battle lines began to fall apart it caused a mass route. The Sericans lost a significant number of troops in the fighting and the only upside of the conflict was they were able to gather the majority of the horses in Rodip and bring them back to the rest of the Serican armies.
The Dwarves continued to shoot down the fleeing Sericans leaving the battlefield covered in the bodies of Sericans. The Dwarves marched into Rodip and began razing the city to the ground and taking anything of value.
Outcome
The Dwarves destroyed another town and cleared the way for the rest of the Dwarven armies.
Aftermath
The Sericans were able to secure a large number of warhorses and equipped a large number of cavalry.
