The Hastellian Grove is a vast stretch of woodland, situated in the central lands of the County of Dawn. Home to many creatures and all variety of plant life, the grove also houses the Sunkiss Spire and its community of Dawnish Elves.

Geography

The woodland is filled with trees, from towering oaks to broad elms, all lush and green. The west side of the woodland meets the coast, trees going from standing tall on solid soil to a mixture of soil and sand.

The main river that cuts through the woodlands is the River Deviere. It stretches from the coast in the west, all the way to the eastern side of the woodlands, and even past the end of the eastern tree line. Forks in the River Deviere lead to the Pilana River - which cuts through the northern parts of the woodlands - and the River Unalus - which runs past the Sunkiss Spire.

Fauna & Flora

Filled with a large variety of plant life, the Hastellian Grove is a popular place for florists and alchemists alike. From Hastellian lavender, to the Dawnish Rose, the plants that spread through the grove are bursting with colour - bright blues to vibrant reds, muted purples to glowing yellows. For a florist who knows which plants to pick, it is easy enough to restock their supply and make a fortune from selling the flowers found here. For alchemists, its more about the chemical and medicinal uses of the plants and herbs. In particular is the abundance of Atriabliss which is well known for its healing properties.

There is also a thriving animal community in the grove - from common creatures like deer and rabbits, wolves and all manner of birds, to those more sylvan like in nature. Though the sylvan creatures are rarer sightings and tend to stick to the thicker, darker parts of the woodlands.

Show spoiler

Many avoid the thicker parts of the grove for this very reason. They believe that sighting a sylvan creature is a bad omen, and that the Fey can only be so far behind their mystical pets. This is completely true, of course, and that so many adhere to these warnings and turn their back at the sight of a sylvan creature is a testament to their sense of self preservation. However, the Fey of the Hastellian Grove aren't as wary as their sylvan friends, and will wander further towards the outskirts of the Grove in an attempt to trick or deal with mortals native to the Material Plane.
