Personal history
Born Zendyl Hestesi, a Lesser Scion of the prominent and powerful Family Heste of Col Shaphel.
At age 16, he was honored by his family matriarch and Colarch of Col Shaphel, Gaibryl Heste do Shaphel, by being granted the right to use the 'do Shaphel' epithet (typically reserved for Prime Scions). That same year, he was also given charge of their family's enterprises on the island of Sia Coren.
At age 20, Zendyl petitioned Gaibryl to let him lead an expedition searching for further islands in the Targotian Sea to colonize; at 22, he sailed as second to Targotian Admar Damal Shirian do Carosh to Sia Zendylhia (then known as Sia Targonorva).

Prior to the founding of his empire, Zendyl had already begun developing and sharing with his people the first three of what would later become known to posterity as the Zendylite Tenets. These are as follows:
Ascendancy- By their survival of the Targotian Cataclysm and their subsequent resurgance, the Targotian people have proven their worthiness to endure and expand; They are chosen.
Mastery- By their boldness in exploration and their skill in navigation, the Targotian people have proven their worthiness to rule the seas; The oceans are their domain.
Supremacy- By their tenacity, ferocity, and the strength of their armaments, the Targotian people have proven their worthiness to dominate; They are superior.
After his death, in his will he revealed the fourth and final Tenet:
Perpetuity- It is the duty and destiny of the Empire, in fullfilment of the first three Tenets, to endure eternally; They are eternal.
(NOTE: After the founding of the Zendylite Empire in 1025ATC, the wording of the first three Tenets was changed slightly, erasing mention of 'the Targotian people' and replacing it with 'the Zendylite people')
Social Aptitude
"Legacy is everything."
"Long ago, the land broke, and countless many perished. Yet one thousand years later and more, here we stand, the strong who have survived. The strong who were chosen to survive. Our legacy is eternal, for how could it not be so? Then let it be so. Let all who look upon us see us and know: be it one hundred years, or one thousand years, we are destiny. We are eternal."
