Col Zendyl
Col Zendyl was the capital city of the Zendylite Empire from its founding until the end of the Sharrarchy in the late 27th century ATC, and remains the spiritual capital of the Empire. The ruling Colarch of the city is one of the three Triarchs that convene in Col Sharrhia to rule over the modern Empire as a triumvirate.
The city is built on two tiers. One, known as the High City, overlooks the bay from where it perches on an inland shelf; the other, called the Low City, is a walled port on the shore below.
Defences
Col Zendyl is strengthened by the bulk of Zendyl Heste's great fortress, the Baz Hesteran, wherein live the fanatical Hesteri Guard. Since the founding of the Empire, the Hesteri were the personal bodyguard of the Sharrarch; since the fall of the Sharrarchy, they have held it as their sacred duty to safeguard the Messenger's city.
As the lower city is a port, Col Zendyl is also well defended by a sizeable contingent of the Imperial Navy.
History
Zendyl Heste do Shaphel (then known still as Zendyl Hestesi) began the construction of his great city, and the Baz Hesteran, when he returned for his Third Expedition to Sia Targonorva (now Sia Zendylhia) in 1012ATC. He did not name it, however, until the official founding of the Zendylite Empire in 1025ATC, by which time it had grown to a bustling port city.
Points of interest
Baz Hesteran- Zendyl the Messenger's ancient fortress palace. In the modern era, it is a popular historical and spiritual destination, as well as the home of the elite Hesteri Guard.
