University

Although completely surrounded by Om, University is considered a suburb of the City of Cartoons in its own right and not subject to Om's governance. It is an unusual suburb, however, in that it is literally a university and nothing else. It is the largest and most prestigious university in Taebur (glossing over the fact it is the only university in Taebur), and the children of well-to-do families all over the City of Cartoons clamour to gain entrance. It has no name other than just "University".

Demographics

All faculty of University must be human and hiring practices favour pure-strain humans over stock humans, though stock humans will be hired in the absence of pure-strain humans. Mutants and synthetics are not allowed to be faculty. University is similarly biased towards students. In most disciplines, students must be human (with preference given to pure-strain humans). However, there are a few disciplines (primarily fine arts and social science programmes) that allow a few mutants. Synthetics can never be students.   University will hire mutants and synthetics for non-faculty staff positions, such as cleaning and cooking staff. Synthetics tend to be hired for rank-and-file security, though officers will still be human.   It is an unfortunate truth that University is not an institution that caters to the poor whether human or not. Students and faculty do not necessarily need to come from the super rich families of the City of Cartoons, but students do need some financial security to be able to afford tuition fees. Faculty are not techincally required to have any amount of money, but hiring biases mean that educators from rich families have an distinct edge over those from less well-to-do backgrounds.

Government

University has a strict and somewhat complicated hierarchy. It is headed by a chancellor, who is served by a pro-chancellor, provost, and deputy provost. These four oversee all the administrative needs for the entirety of University, and they appoint the deans who head each individual faculty. The deans in turn appoint department heads and hire faculty.
