Verki Bërgkin
In the vast stretches of the northern snows, the tribes of Yergralffe stand unwavering and fierce, their dedication firm to the Clan Verki and its thousand year claim as one of the great houses of Gaul. Born from alliance of tribes who believe in the plight of the Verki, who have every right to be legitimized as the Seventh House that sits amongst the highest ranks of nobility. At the end of the Thousand Year Silence, the Six Heroes of Gaul made their final push against the shadow monsters that held the workd in servitude for a millenia. This military alliance pressed north and were housed and armed by the Verki clan and its northern people. Jandar Verki fought equally alongside Beowulf, Adonis, Ghi’Nan, Oceanus, Yvonette and Ivoris. He lead with the same ferocity and bravery to the reign of the Onyx Aelves. When Dhara rose to the celestial plane and bestowed the great leaders of Gaul with Ennobled Blood and artifacts of his incredible craft, Jandar was left forgotten, as were the countless lost between the northman.
The Verki Bërgkin are loyalists to the family that should be titled the Northking. They still have title and renown for their Jaagr who rules the north but feel their ruler should have been elevated among the others. The slight began with the Fourth Era but over the next centuries, the mainland houses would continue to disrespect and undermine the Jaagrom of Valhedge. The yergs have fought in five great northern wars against the Ice Dwarves and their usurper jarls. even though the fight of the northerners runs in their blood, the mainland sided with their enemy to maintain the dwarven trade alliances. Many lives were lost and in the fifth war the Highking gave away their ancestral home to the Great Hokd of Oriclan. With no allies or resources the Valhedge factions were forced to move further north, sowing their resentment while nursing their wounds and burying their dead.
The Bërgkin now reside in the farthest nirthern provinces of Valhedge, still believing that the legitimacy of the noble Verki should be upheld and respected by the Six saviour houses of the mainland.
At the heart of their settlements stands a statue with a flame lit in its base. The towering stacked slab structure is meticulously crafted to resemble a colossal stone man in form. Within the base of these structures burns a hearth, radiating warmth and camaraderie. It is here that the tribes gather, indulging in communal feasts, echoing laughter, and stories passed down through generations. The esteemed Jaagr, the Clan Leader, makes it a point to visit each of these hearths during the milder northern summers, journeying by sled, strengthening ties, and fostering unity.
Yet, beneath this robust show of solidarity is the simmering sense of injustice. The North, under the Jaagr's guidance, became the sanctuary and bulwark for the beleaguered Gaulan forces. However, once the war's wrath subsided, the sacrifices of the North went conspicuously unrewarded. While the Six Heroes of Dhara, all mainlanders, were lauded and immortalized, the Jaagr and the Yergralffe warriors were overlooked. This disregard, perceived as a deep slight by the Yergralffe, remains an ever-present scar; for in the North, memories are long and history is never truly buried beneath the ice.
