Swipes

Olgnew Kade Gromett (a.k.a. Swipes)

The Silent Swipes uses his tiny size to sneak into small places and, well... he does what his name suggests, swipes. Swipes started his life in an Skygarde orphanage with his twin, the two were saved by the captain of the High Guard, Sir Nikolas Heartstring during a raid on a goblin camp. unfortunately no one with enough wealth to live in Skygarde would ever adopt a goblin child. After years of rejection the goblin now known as Swipes, a nickname given by his caretaker, left the orphanage. Living in the Forgotten Slums; a rundown community consisting of people who couldn't afford the high taxes of Skygarde, Swipes had to steal to stay alive. After years of living in the slums, a fateful encounter changed his life. During his normal day Swipes would steal from any nobles stupid enough to walk through the slums. On what seemed like a average day, the young goblin found his target,a older man with a black robe and dapper look. This man had the face of royalty but dressed as a simple nobleman, swipes stalked him through the busy alleyways of the Forgotten Slums. Swipes followed this man by weaving through the legs of shoppers in the market. This man in black was walking at an abnormally fast pace, moving through the crowd with greater ease than the tiny goblin. It almost seemed as if the mysterious man knew he was being followed, which only strengthened Swipes' drive; clearly this was a man of importance. After each corner the man seemed to slip farther and farther away, usually his jet black cape was all Swipes saw as he turned the tight corners. After several minutes of chasing, Swipes took a corner too fast and slipped on some trash lying on the street, dazed and confused, the petty thief was helped up.   "Are you okay?" a smooth voice asked.   As he gained his vision back he looked up to the handsome features of the man he was following.   "That was one hell of a chase." the mystery man chuckled. "Not many people, let alone goblins have ever been able to tail me as well as you did, I've seen you in action for a few years now and this test was definitely worth it." The man was walking now, his hand gently pushing Swipes along as he continued talking, Swipes was entranced.   "Do you see this poster?" The man in black pointed to a wanted poster on the wall of the dark alley way, the face on the page looked like that of a demon; a black ghostly image with horns and menacing eyes.   "Yea Sir" Swipes was trembling with awe and intrigue. "That poster be all over the city, most wanted man in Skygarde. I thinks his name is Ducun or somethin', but most folks 'round here just call him Billium Ducard..." Swipes was rambling on but the supposed nobleman just let him talk. "rumour is that he has demonic powers that makes him be able to go invisible and change his appearance." Swipes finally finished.   "Well that is quite the tale, I assure you that most of it is false though." The man said with his soft voice.   "You don't know that, Ducan is the greatest thief to ever live!" Swipes was slightly offended that the mystery man could slander such an extraordinary thief.   "It is pronounced Ducard, The Ghost, and it is a pleasure to meet you Swipes." Ducard reached out to shake the small goblin's hand. Swipes just stood there, wide eyed and speechless. Ducard carried on talking as if Swipes wasn't acting like a statue.   "The reason they draw me as a demonic ghost is because they have never had me detained long enough to get a good look at my face, the High Guard brands me as a demon because they refuse to believe that they could be bested for decades by a normal man." Billium was walking with Swipes through the marketplace, Swipes still hadn't said a word since the formal introduction. As Billium moved through the crowd, he gently pushed people out of his way. The far side of the marketplace had been reached with ease, noon at the marketplace usually took minutes to fight the crowd but Ducard did it in mere seconds. "See this sewer lid? Well, the key emblem you see painted on it is one of the only visible markings of the Syndicate, but this is a ruse. If you opened lid and climbed down, our trap master Tamara has some diabolical surprises laid out for you. The actual sewer entrance is located in another part of the slums." Billium grabbed one of the wanted posters for "Billium Ducard" off of the wall and scribbled some directions down for Swipes. "I will be expecting you to find your way and come visit us sometime." The Ghost said as he walked away, disappearing into the crowd The shifty goblin joined the Syndicate at a young age, and quickly rose up as a highly sought-after thief. Swipes now works for the cross key emblem of the Syndicate, even though no thief would stupidly brand themselves a member, the tiny goblin crook found himself a family among the thieves.   24   Fought alongside Gunkor in the Goblin Wars.   Almost killed his younger brother Alvin Gromett.   When he found out what he did, he and his brother fled the Goblin Wars as defectors on Albion Korugar's advice.   Attended the funeral of his cousin Smud Bladescum.   Moved to Turin to help rebuild the Syndicate.   Invited his brother to join as resident chef, he accepted.   Olgnew of the Syndicate.
