Fredericus Skytracer

Plainsking Fredericus Skytracer

Biological parent of Sal Skytracer   Fredericus Skytracer, the Plainsking of Erod Mercadia, was a shrewd and pragmatic ruler. He sought to consolidate power and streamline the governance of the nation. Recognizing the need for efficient administration, Fredericus centralized authority, reducing the influence of the ruling nobles and strengthening the monarchy. He also implemented economic reforms, including the establishment of the national bank and the reorganization of military forces. Fredericus's rule marked a period of stability and prosperity for Mercadia, as his strategic decisions laid the groundwork for the nation's continued growth.   male   Avid falconer   4E, 436   Leighla, Beonette's daughter, became queen at the tender age of 8 after her mother's sudden demise during childbirth. Due to her young age and lack of political acumen, a council of nobles and the Dwarven Viscourt assumed the reins of power. Tragically, Leighla fell victim to a kidnapping plot orchestrated to blackmail the crown. Though the High Guard successfully thwarted the brigands, Leighla met a tragic end, attacked by wolves while fleeing through the forest.   4E, 437   Following Leighla's untimely demise, a period of regency commenced, with the realm being governed by a council of nobles. Over the course of 15 years, power became fragmented among various lords, ladies, and councils. The absence of a true monarch allowed the ruling class to expand its influence. When the eldest of Leighla's twin brothers came of age at 16, he assumed control of the throne.   4E, 451   Fredericus was a business savvy ruler and needed to trim off unnecessary offices and departments that had formed within the ruling government of Erod Mercadia. Fredericus brought power back to the throne and took it away from the ruling nobles. His actions removed one of the competing banks to the national bank. The Dwarf Bank of Eltrin became the one true bank of the realm. The various military units that formed under his grandmother Amauri's religious conquest were narrowed down to two main military factions. The High Guard, which were the protectors of the Plainsmonarch gained command of the standing military of many rural soldiers and militia as well as all soliders within the city of Skygarde. The Church of Dhara was able to keep the second strongest military that was loyal to the throne. The Church has endeavors in areas outside of the borders of Erod Mercadia, so they were allowed to keep their forces intact as long as they swore loyalty to the Plainsking Fredericus. The council of nobles were thanked but relieved of their political power. The Dwarven Viscourt was still a powerful group of advisors and remained in the King's circle. Their knowledge of business and resources were incredibly helpful the young Fredericus.   The Creeping Inferno (4E, 478): A dangerous natural disaster known as the Creeping Inferno ravaged the Gaulan Plains. It was a devastating combination of ferocious wildfires and a relentless heatwave that swept across the region, leaving destruction in its wake. Crops withered, rivers dried up, and towns and villages succumbed to a slow crawling grassfire. This blaze slowly crept across the vast dry grasslands of the Plains. Roderick Sireheart, the Captain of the High Guard at the time, led relief efforts, mobilizing his High Guard and the Church of Dhara to provide aid and shelter to the displaced populace. The Creeping Inferno led to a period of scarcity and hardship, but it also forged a spirit of resilience and unity among the people of Mercadia. This event occurred during Fredericus' rule, other nations were affected as well. Fredericus' twin brother, Domini, who was living as a political envoy in Ivoria to the east, also had to help his adoptive home get through this devastating heat wave.   The Expedition to the Firefang Jags (4E, 513): Seeking to expand their influence and secure vital resources, Plainsking Sal Skytracer organized a grand expedition to the formidable Firefang Jags. The treacherous mountain range, known for its hostile terrain and monstrous creatures, had long been a challenge to navigate. However, the Plainsking believed that expanding into the Jags would provide Erod Mercadia with valuable minerals, rare magical artifacts, and strategic advantages. Led by the courageous explorer and mage, Lady Elysande Aronthal of the Seekers in Westmoor, the expedition overcame numerous perils and discovered hidden wonders within the mountainous realm. Although the Firefang Jags were not fully conquered, the expedition's success established trade routes and diplomatic ties with the mountain tribes, fostering a new era of cooperation and cultural exchange between Erod Mercadia and the gaul of the Jags.   4E, 515   In the final years of Erod Mercadia, Fredericus decided to officially refer to the realm as simply "Mercadia" in official documents, despite initial protests from the Dwarven Viscourt. The name was determined to be a reflection of the unity between the Gauls and Dwarves while also simplifying the nation's identity. In 4E, 516, the name "Erod" was formally dropped, and Mercadia came under the rule of Fredericus' son, Sal Skytracer, marking the transition to a new era for the nation.
