Eastqueen Gwyda Windslayer

Eastqueen Gwydo Windslayer

Gwyda was born into the esteemed House of Windslayer in 119 AHM, inheriting not only her father Kelden’s legacy but also the ferocity of her bloodline. In 138 AHM, her father stepped aside, placing Gwyda as the Electorate at age 19 after the abdication of her ailing father. From a young age, she displayed an unyielding spirit in battle, which gave her a majority in the Cinnead Chief voting. She became the Eastqueen of the Windslayer line and the Ivorian Heathlands, chosen for her combat prowess and unrelenting leadership style.
Gwyda's reign was characterized by her sharp mind and iron will, though her time as Eastqueen was punctuated by personal tragedy. She bore three children during her reign—Rudelf, Addikus—but it was the birth of her youngest, Hego, in 165 AHM, that ultimately lead to her death. Gwydo and her consort fell ill following Hego's birth, succumbing to a resurgence of the Black Fog, an insidious plague that had nearly ravaged the East decades before. Hego was born cursed with the affliction but showed no symptoms, they did not know their newborn was the cause of their symptoms. Although the Seekers had developed a cure to protect future generations, the illness persisted in those already afflicted, including Gwyda, whose body could no longer fight off the disease.
Gwyda's death in 169 AHM at the age of 50 left the Windslayer family divided. Her firstborn son, Rudelf, bound by his oath to the Merkaynian Enclave, refused the throne, leaving the line of succession open to conflict. Her death catalyzed the Ninth Eastern Moot, a bloody tournament for power that culminated in her second son Addikus claiming the title of Eastking after slaying his uncle Haydemar and defeating his cousin Marcus.
