Bloodlorn Chasm

Bloodlorn Chasm is a dark and foreboding place, located deep within the Conferus province. It is a deep, wide canyon that is said to have been created by an ancient battle between powerful forces. The walls of the chasm are steep and jagged, and are said to be stained red with the blood of the fallen. The chasm is also said to be home to dangerous creatures and malevolent spirits, making it a place that most people avoid. Despite the danger, some brave souls venture into the chasm in search of valuable treasures and artifacts said to be hidden within. Many tales are told of brave warriors and powerful mages who ventured into the chasm, but few have returned to tell the tale. Some say that the chasm is a place of great power and that those who can survive its dangers will be rewarded with great strength and knowledge.   An old story is told to young elves to scare them from leaving.   "Two feuding tribes were separated by a canyon. During an attack, two enemies met eyes and fell in love. They could only sneak away for a short time so their comrades would not notice. They did no have time to trek the chasm so they sat on the opposing cliff faces watching each other. The roots began to grow out from the cliff and the two grew older as they waited for the roots to grow out and reach each other. Once the root bridge was complete, the two could be together. When the two halves of the root bridge met, the two embraced each other. The happiness was brief. The tribes soon discovered the new access to the other side and began a bloody battle to decide whom would get the strategic access point. This story end with the battle killing all on both sides of the chasm. The bridge stills remains stretching out over Bloodlorn Chasm. It is called Lover's Pass."   This story was based on actual events.   Wildehail soldiers had begun claiming territory in the Incantum Forest and a group of wood elves fought back against the Wild Men. Throughout the 6 year struggle, many were injured and killed on both sides. On a fateful day, wood elves had killed an entire camp of men on the woods. When an elf woman was walking by the camp she found one lone survivor who was clinging to life. As the elf, Mistrai, tried to heal the injured Balazar she heard a group of humans coming to check the camp. She started to run but knew that the men would not be able to heal the soldier. Mistrai thought the fighting was useless but she decided to go back and retrieve Balalzar. The watch party saw her and began to chase the elf dragging the dying man. As they cornered her on a cliff, she used her natural powers to extend the roots to the other side of the chasm, using it to escape. She spent days bringing the soldier back to health. It did not take long for the two to fall in love. They lived together for years hidden away in the forest, they learned she was with child. Halfbreeds were usually shunned shunned by both races so they his away and raised their boy. Their son learned how to fight from his warrior father and how to master his elven skills from his mother. He was a very strong warrior and healer.   He was named Gharin which was elven for "One who thrives in nature."
