Reanimation Tree
Overview
The Reanimation tree of necromancy is used to raise the dead, create undead abominations, and infuse live creatures with necromantic energy. many have also tried to raise their loved ones through the use of reanimation but quite simply it cannot be done at least not in the way most want it too. When something dies and is risen again no matter how fresh the corpse may be or how well preserved the soul always returns twisted and broken to the corpse. The blue light that emanates from the eyes and chest cavity of undead creatures are their broken souls being forcefully bound within the corps. generally the more fresh the corps the more unbroken the soul is. These mostly unbroken souls are far more intelligent than much older souls, but they are not who they were when they were alive, their personalities are altered and twisted as they are not meant to in an undead state.
Speaking in the language of the dead will always compel and force the undead to do your exact bidding, as long as you are the one who reanimated them.
Necrotic Breeding Branch
When something dies and is immediately risen, there is a brief amount of time usually a few hours where its bodily functions are still functional. At least as long as what killed it didn't damage them too severally. Within those few hours it can be used to breed with a member of what was it's own kind. This process only works if the risen creature is male as the resulting baby creature will come about long after the risen creature can perform normal bodily functions.
This ritual is often called the black ritual. The resulting baby will naturally have necrotic energy coursing through it's veins. These creatures are called Death Born, Death Born will always have blue eyes that match the color of necromancy magic, and there eyes will have no pupils. Just bright glowing blue.
As a Death Born creature continues to breed with other creatures of it's kind the generations will slowly become more and more altered until a monstrous species of necromantic magic remains. These living creatures are often the spawn on nightmares' and are horiffic to look upon. However despite their appearance and necrotic nature they are not naturally evil things. They just rarely get the opportunity to be their natural selves as these creatures are often raised by cultists, mad scientists, and necromancers.
Death Born can often use small necromantic spells from drawing upon their own energy rather than having to kill something. They often are resistant to damaging necrotic energy and have other such attributes. Often the greater the necromantic generation the stronger in necromantic power it is. Sometimes these things can become living undead for example a death hound like creature it looks like a black hound only its head is a skill, but it still has a brain, tongue and eyes behind the skill.
Animation Branch
Animation is the specific branch of just reanimating the dead. reanimating the dead is the most famous thing that necromancy is known for but that does not mean that it is always easy. To reanimate something a necromancer needs an equal amount of stored death energy from the death of creatures to reanimate a dead creature. Generally the more intelligent or magically powerful the creature the more energy one needs to raise it. Once raised as long as the necromancer knows Draloth he or she need never fear of loosing control of their creations. Once risen the dead's broken souls are called back from the vail and shoved back into their bodies. Their souls are broken and twisted, the dead's eyes and chest cavity will emit a bright glowing blue wispy energy. Many a necromancer has tried to raise their lost loved ones, but that never works as their souls are always broken once risen from the earth. The only way to kill an undead so to speak is to chop their bodies in enough pieces that they cant move or repair the damage, then to burn them into ash. This will release the soul and leave nothing left for it to inhabit.
Abomination Branch
Risen abominations follow the same rules as an undead, however actually rising them is a different manner entirely and requires venturing into other trees of necromancy to succeed. Abominations are created by bone molding other bones together making all kinds of creatures, or one could stitch flesh and limbs together to create other types of abominations, either way they take time, skill, and knowledge to create a functional body to be risen. Once the body is constructed a soul must inhabit the body as a necromancer cant raise an abomination the usually way. Abominations need one soul to operate, multiple souls will make a dysfunctional creation. So to reanimate the abomination a necromancer will reanimate normal corpses rip their broken souls out and place them within a gemstone, they will continue this until they fit the needed amount of souls within the gem. Then a ritual is performed to mold the souls into one soul and then the gem is broken and the soul is placed within the abomination and the creature is then risen. Depending on how big the abomination is or how magically powerful the flesh or bones are used in the creation will determine how many souls need to be used to make a powerful enough soul to inhabit the abomination.
