Ether Channelers

It didn't look all that impressive, not compared to the huge crystals that sat inside the courtyard of the castle. Just a small collection of focus crystals lying on a small metal plate. What was impressive however was watching the master Ether Crystal Technomancer at work. Lying the uncharged Ether Crystal in a leather loop above the plate he began to chant, the magical words lifting the focus crystals off the tables. He was tuning them, making it so they perfectly harmonized with the crystal hanging between them. Soon afterwards the chants changed words and he could see faint blueish energy begin to lift off his fingers flowing into the focus crystals, swirling around them before gently floating onwards to enter the charging Ether Crystal. Before he could really grasp the intricacies of the process it was over, and a now bright blue and fully charged Ether Crystal hung before his eyes.

Discovery

This device was slowly developed by a team of Aldelgis wizards looking for ways to harness and store the power of Ether. Upon discovering Ether Crystals, which the mages felt would be the perfect vessel to hold the energy they still needed a way to transfer the power into the newly found crystals. Upon years of research and experimentation, they discovered that by using a series of focusing crystals they could match each individual crystals magical frequency and be able to filter Ether through the focus and into the Ether Crystals.

Access/Availability

This device is not generally available to the public, in fact, it is strictly prohibited for anyone to use or possess one unless they have express permission from a military commander or councilman of the Empire of Aldelgis. These channellers are also only produced in the Empire of Adelgis and moving them across the countries borders is illegal and punished severely. Because of this, Ether technologies are extremely rare in the rest of the world. The Empire, though they don't admit to it, have been known to send out task forces to retrieve devices that have somehow left their borders.

Complexity

Ether Channelers are only intended for those that are highly educated and are of the brightest minds. They are only used by Ether Crystal Technomancers, who are highly skilled wizards who have specialized in the use of Ether Crystals and related technologies. This training takes years and only a few actually obtain the title.
The process itself is a closely guarded secret by the Ether Crystal Technomancers of the Empire, and only a few of the channelers themselves have been seen outside of Aldelgis. They typically consist of a small platform, with either a stand, strap, or grooved dais to hold the Ether Crystal in place, and a series of focusing crystals used to direct Ether into the crystals. The technomancer will then magically adjust the focusing crystals so that they may properly direct the flow of Ether into the crystal. Lastly, the technomancer will use an incantation to begin transferring Ether into the device which then transfers it to the crystal. This is a very barebones description of the process and requires many more steps depending on the size and purpose of the Ether Crystal being prepared. Some larger Ether Crystals even have special built Ether Channelers made purposely for them.

Not available to the public, only used by military or state-approved personnel. Illegal to own or travel beyond Aldelgis borders with.
