Timesetter

A Timesetter is a profession which relates to the clocks in public squares of Birdencaster. Depending on the Level of the Profession, they will have different things to do with the clocks.

Location

The Timesetters are found in various Zones and Segments. Their Headquarters can be found in the City Hall.
Timekeepers are in charge of building and public square clocks of the Zone and Segment that they reside in, regardless that their Headquarters is in 2 12. Timesetters are residents of their working area as they are more familiar with their local area.

Timesetters have an expensive wristwatch ^{[Image Left]} which will enable them to keep time accurately and to make sure they change the clocks correctly and honestly. As some analogue wrist watches of the Old World gave the day of the week and month, knowing the date as well enables them to be able to change the date accurately. The wristwatch is returned at the end of the day to their department in City Hall, to prevent theft.

Career Progression

To progress as a Timesetter requires experience in the role rather than going through a test to progress. Lower levels that are unavailable due to illness will be able to be covered by those of higher levels.

Level 1

A Level 1 Timesetter will change the date on the clocks by unlocking the clear door to the clockface and advancing the right numbers to the finished before moving onto another clock in a public square.

Level 2

Squares that don’t have clocks have buildings that do. These buildings that have a clock but don’t show the date.
At Level 2 Timesetters are responsible for these clocks and they wind the clocks weekly so that mechanical clocks can maintain the correct time.

Level 3

At Level 3 Timesetters are authorised to adjust clock mechanisms for the purposes of getting the correct time and for the purposes of daylight saving time.
