Simon Collins is a 40-year-old British man who is employed as the Captain of the Messengers in Birdencaster. He is married to Katrina Collins (née Bradley), and has two sons (Ray and Evan) and a daughter (Violet) with her. He is a work-oriented man, although he is active enough in his family's lives to keep them content.

Personality

Simon is a serious and work-oriented man. He is usually on the verge of being impolite with the people of Birdencaster, but he is known to be dedicated to his job. He makes sure that any messages arrive not only intact but on time. He has been known to pick up extra shifts for his employees whenever they need the extra time off. He has even used his power as Captain of the Messengers to demand certain, particularly-exhausted employees go home, only to perform their shifts for them.
Simon has a soft spot for children. He is far more polite when in the presence of a child, and has been known to sneak a few New Sovereigns into messages delivered to families with small children. It is of the general populace's understanding that the coins are meant to go to the child, and most citizens happily oblige by buying a piece of confectionery for the children whenever receiving the secreted bonus.

Appearance

Simon is a tall and bulky man with neatly styled, greying hair. He has a long face with sharp features and defined smile lines. The stress of his job has him looking several years older than he actually is. He keeps himself clean-shaven. He is almost always seen wearing his uniform as Captain of the Messengers or a well-tailored three-piece suit.

History

Simon was born on 23 October 2081 to Jensen and Diane Collins as their oldest child. He was raised alongside his sister Ivy, three years his junior, and was quite studious as a child. He met his wife Katrina at his schoolhouse when only seven years old. He grew into an active, athletic, and witty teenager. He was originally apathetic towards his assigned position as a Messenger in 3 10 of Birdencaster, but he quickly grew to love his job.
