Crate

For the manufaturing of Closed Style Crates see; Cratewright.   Crates can be found in many areas across the world. These useful containers and protectors are made out of wood. The wood depends on what is used locally, so the crates in Birdencaster are made out of pine. There are two types of crates, Closed and Open. Which describes the design of the crates and reusability.

Types Of Crates

Closed Style Crates

The Closed Style Crates are the crates that most people think, when they think of wooden crates. Crates of this type are always 50cm cubes (19.69"). These Crates contain anything of which needs to be protected by the elements or that are small such as ingots and put in the same crate.

These crates are the more common type due to the wide products that can be stored in a 50cm (19.69") cube. Crates have nails to seal the crate closed.

Internal Dimensions - 50cm (19.69") cube.

Rarity - Prevalent.

Mechanics & Inner Workings - Has hinges and latches in Warehouses and is nailed shut while in transport such as Merchant Ships and Hybrid Trains.

The crates are loaded on to Hybrid Trains or Merchant Ships and then sent to their end destination. When they are at their destination, such as Birdencaster, are carried to the Warehouses by Crate Carriers. Once in the Warehouses, the crates are opened and the items are appraised. Once they are stored the crate has its nails removed from the lid and replaced with hinges and a hook latch.   For industries in Birdencaster, their items that can be placed in a Closed Style Crates. These loaded crates are then taken to a Warehouses to be apprised and sold, unless the commodity is one of the exceptions.   These crates are then checked to see if they are the ones that have been nailed shut or have the latch, crates that have the latches are put onto to assigned shelf. The crates that have been nailed go through the same process as the crates that arrived on the Hybrid Trains or Merchant Ships.

Open Style Crates

While less common these crates are used for applications when the product is obviously larger than the Closed Style Crates. The most common thing to be contained in these crates are bicycles [Image Right].   Anything that doesn't need to be protected from all angles can be contained using these types of crates. While these crates are not manufactured by the Cratewright, they are produced by other industries that produce large items.
