Bone River

Geography

The river gets its name from from the stark white water that emerges underground and forks around the Cusp before reconnecting and disappearing once again. It flows within the crater floor, between the innoit capital and the crater wall and remerges nowhere else.
Those on route to the capital, avoid even descending into the crater, by crossing a wide and long rope bridge. During a crisis, the bridge can be cut at either end. Whereafter invaders are diverted to poorly maintained gangplanks that are the remnants of older river-spanning footbridges.

Ecosystem

Nothing lives in the river. Nothing drinks from it. Nothing grows near its banks or even a good distance from it.
The bone milk surrounds Ca-Chisneu like a toxic moat. It serves as the second defensive line against foreign conquest, right after the crater wall's steep incline. Contact with the white water can bleach clothes and severely burn and irritate the eyes, skin, nose, and throat; possibly causing permanent damage. All of which may not be help in an exertive situation.
Supposing some foe won a battle in the crater, they could not easily besiege the capital. Camping for any prolonged amount of time near the river exposes them to air that has choked out most plants.

Localized Phenomena

During periods of a particularly high humidity, a white mist can be seen emerging from the river and spreading its toxic effects further away from its banks than usual.

Natural Resources

Kluru: Water taken from the river can cause vomiting, nausea and throat and stomach irritation if ingested. The vomit is also likely to have a sanitized smell to it.
