Royal Armory

The Royal Armory is from the old empire Cohrmas. It was founded around 600 av to supersede a multitude of independent armories from cities. First it was only for organization of the military equipment, but after the war with the island Ondrakivic, it started to produce¹ ammunition like arrows and catapult rocks.
As preparation for the "act against smuggling", the Royal Armory started to produce small and fast warships in Rajdova Velky. The produced ships were high quality and very effective on the sea. This made them renowned and they were feared by pirates. This also gave them the political power to expand. They expanded in building bows and siege machines.

Island states

At the end of the empire Cohrmas, the assets of the Royal Armory were divided between the Islands. Most were on Ostrunic. The newborn island state repurposed the Armory as a partly zivil zirconium production. This zirconium was used for military armor, portcullis or other defensive equipment and for civil applications like hinges or brackets. It also got renamed to Runic's Zirconium Manufactory. The only section to remain was the ship department. The now partly independent manufactory meant that the uncontrolled civil part expanded much faster and took a great part of the zirconium in cohrmas.
On the other island states were not as many assets as on Ostrunic and they kept it as a military manufacturer.

The free Isles

After the invasion the Runic's Zirconium Manufactory was commissioned to invest more in the small military part and with the looming fall of the shipyard in Rajdova Velky the manufactory needed a new one. After a quick meeting with the other governments, the decision was to build it in Krocnitz. As the Runic's Zirconium Manufactory reunited with the parts on the other islands the name changed back to the Royal Armory.
After the stalemate in the ostrunic hills the eastern islands stopped helping the western. After the division of the free Isles the Royal Armory was split into two parts. The tiny eastern part under the control of the east Cohrmas and the big western part under the control of the Free Isles. The free Isles started to allow research facilities.   Now they produce every military equipment for the Free Isles and produce around a quater of the zirconium. Their research is mostly based in Vyz but also in other cities.
