Geographics

Vyz is a town in at the southern crater edge of the Syzni crater. Through this city goes the ostrunic-wide trade route Gvichsoza. From the locals the trade route is known as Syznoza. It is near the city Krawic.

Cityscape

Vyz is mostly built underground. Only some buildings stick out but not more then half of the building is out in the open. Vyz has three districts: Craneny, Trosmon and Blesky.
Craneny is the district in the crater. It is connected with the other two districts by a big street up the edge and two huge elevators. Craneny is the industrial district. This is the place of many factories. The biggest of them are the the Royal Armory and Krystruncov plants.
Trosmon is the close to the city walls. It has mostly cheaper houses and barnhouses. It is the smallest part of the city. With more and more steampowered greenhouses getting build in Craneny the district gets smaller. But the amount of workers moving to this district get bigger.
Blesky was the old market district with markets for resources and food produced in Trosmon and Craneny. Now the markets are a place for the rich people but further away from the decorated markets many workers live in the area too.

History

Beginnings | 850 av

The town startet as an outpost for a few stonecutters. Those built them self buried huts which could withstand the frequent summer eruptions of the Syzni. The few stonecutters started a small quarry to harvest better volcanic rocks. But with frequent summer eruptions the outpost was a abandoned in the summer. The first to come back to the village in the early winter or sometimes in the very late summer. And they repaired the damage by the eruptions. Every year some people joined the small outpost and some even stayed in the outpost in the summer.

With the small community growing every year at some point the quarry at the edge wasn't big enough for them anymore. This resulted in less new people taking the one day journey from Kravic. Some people started to build stairs in the crater edge to cut volcanic rocks in the crater. After a few years the new quarry in the crater revealed decorated stonework. This got dismantled and reused as new building material and sold.
In the year 1120 av a huge summer eruption of the Syzni destroyed most buildings of Vyz. Many inhabitants died. After the eruption some people who normally work in Vyz in the winter came from Krawic and helped the injured or rebuild collapsed buildings. In the following centuries the village grew back to the original size.

The now thriving town has its biggest quarry in the crater. Many make the walk down the edge or wait for the newly built elevator. With it tons of stone can be lifted from the crater and sold. In the year 1496 av another normal seeming ruins where found and the demolition started. After the first stone was removed a big part of the ruins crumbeld and fell into a hole. It got investigated and under the crumbled ceiling an old and dented steam boiler was found. The boiler was rebuild and a new field of science appeared. With the collaboration with Krawic's university Vyz expanded it with the new science. From this the city scape changed as the first settlement. With every breakthrough the city adopted it and got more efficient. New ways of producing zirconium and markerrium was found.
