Phandalin
Town Overview
Phandalin is a rebuilt frontier town at the end of the Triboar Trail. Since Cryovain’s defeat and the Adventurer’s Tournament, traffic through town has surged: caravans, prospectors, and guild agents now mingle with farmers and old families. The town is still rough around the edges—but better defended, better supplied, and far more ambitious than the sleepy backwater it once was.Town Shops

Additional Shops & Institutions

- Stonehill Kitchen – A back-room bakery now sells travel-ready bread loaves used in Toblen’s sandwiches.
Key Locations & Landmarks
- Townmaster’s Hall – Administrative hub. Now fortified with reinforced stonework. A new bulletin board outside posts bounties and Golden Vault notices. The office stands vacant after Harbin Wester’s death; interim duties are being handled by Sildar Hallwinter until a formal vote.
- Stonehill Inn – Expanded with a second story for guest rooms. Now features a "Heroes of Icespire" wall with portraits or plaques of local adventurers.
- Barthen’s Provisions – Stocked and busy. Barthen now employs two new workers. Back storage enlarged; he now trades with Neverwinter and Leilon caravans.
- Lionshield Coster – Upgraded with improved defenses. A retired adventurer named Drelna has joined as a security specialist.
- Shrine of Luck (Shrine to Tymora) – Rebuilt into a modest stone temple, funded in part by grateful townsfolk. Sister Garaele has returned, possibly with a new acolyte.
- Edermath Orchard – Daran Edermath’s apple rows and ciders; informal mustering point when trouble hits the road.
- Alderleaf Farm – Qelline’s homestead; waystation for refugees out of Thundertree and the Neverwinter Wood.
- Phandalin Miner’s Exchange – Growing hub for economic activity. Rumors say Halia Thornton has deeper ties with the Zhentarim again.
- Tresendar Manor (Ruins & Cellars) – Former Redbrand hideout. Reclaimed and partially rebuilt by adventurers or the Lord’s Alliance. Used as a watch post and guildhall. Secret tunnels still exist—some now cleared, others sealed.
- The Tournament Grounds – A leveled green on the south side where Phandalin hosted its first Adventurer’s Tournament. A simple timber dais and carved standing-stones commemorate the entrants and fallen.
- The Party’s House – A refurbished town home near the northern edge of town. Recent upgrades include reinforced shutters, floors, and doors.
Notable NPCs
- Sildar Hallwinter (Human Male; right hand missing) – Veteran of the Lords’ Alliance; steadying influence while the town transitions leadership.
- Harbin Wester (Human Male: Deceased) – See Article.
- Aldith “Black Hawk” Tresendar (Human Male: Ghost) – Retired Neverwinter knight; once sought the rapier Talon. The weapon was recovered and returned, but Aldith remains bound to the manor, more wistful than wrathful.
- Alfonze “Big Al” Kalazorn (Human Male) – Retired sheriff of the Triboar Trail; still has reach. Assisted recently with an assassination-contract inquiry tied to Phandalin.
- Gundren Rockseeker (Dwarf Male) – Rescued from Nezznar’s Redbrands; rediscovered and reignited the Forge of Spells. Quietly commissions magic for Phandalin’s defense and trade.
- Murgen (Female Orc) – Master carpenter and restorer. Entered the Tournament to help win the Cryovain contract; afterward led stabilization of damaged structures and kept vigil over Harbin during the corruption probe.
Various NPCs
- Adabra Gwynne (Human Female) – Apothecary. Formerly isolated at Umbrage Hill; returned after being saved from a manticore and Cryovain. Offers a standing 10% health-potion discount to her rescuers.
- Dazlyn & Norbus (Dwarf Men) – Prospectors who unearthed an Abbathor temple before ochre jellies overran it. Relocated to Phandalin after Cryovain’s attack; now steady hands among the miners.
- Elmar Barthen (Human Male) – Merchant and quartermaster of the frontier by default. If he doesn’t have it, he’ll find it.
- Gurd (Half-Orc Male: Deceased) – Would-be barbarian champion who died the night before the Tournament after a catastrophic tripe-pie binge. Locals leave a clay pie on the green each year in his memory.
- Mirna (Human Female) – Thundertree evacuee; rewarded the party for returning a gold heart-shaped locket from her past.
- Rolf (Human Male) – Caravan driver whose cart (and horse) were seized by Cryovain and dropped in the dragon’s lair. Survived by disguising himself among cultists until the party ended the threat; now finally retiring.
- Toblen Stonehill (Human Male) – Innkeeper, informant, and shameless promoter of his “sandwich” revolution. His new Pla-nini has brought critics from Neverwinter, and he won’t let anyone forget it.
- Sister Garaele (Half-Elf Female) – Harper agent tending the Shrine of Luck; quietly coordinates information sharing between decent folk.
- Daran Edermath (Half-Elf Male) – Orchard-master and retired adventurer; keeps young blades honest and old ones humble.
- Qelline Alderleaf (Halfling Female) – Farmer and fixer; knows every back path between here and the hills.
Factions & Influence
- Lords’ Alliance – Sildar’s network steadies trade and law on the Trail.
- Harpers – Sister Garaele keeps an eye on corruption and cult activity.
- Zhentarim – Halia Thornton brokers claims and “security services” via the Miners’ Exchange. Officially above board; practically opportunistic.
Recent History & Ongoing Threads
- Cryovain’s Fall – The dragon is dead; rebuilding continues. The Tournament is now a civic holiday; proceeds fund road watches and roof repairs.
- Redbrand Aftermath – Nezznar’s network scattered; the manor remains haunted and partially restored. Sub-cellars are mapped but not fully safe.
- Forge of Spells – Operational again under Gundren’s guidance. Output is limited and discrete; key items seed town defenses and merchant leverage.
- Leadership Gap – With Harbin gone, a merchant-council holds the reins with Sildar in a temporary position. Expect a vote or trial council within the season; Sildar, Halia, and Toblen each command blocks of support for different priorities.
Services for Adventurers
- Repairs & Crafting – Murgen’s shop (structures, furniture, hidden compartments), Lionshield Coster (arms/armor), Adabra (alchemical), Barthen’s (everything else).
- Lodging & Stables – Stonehill Inn; overflow cots at Edermath Orchard during festivals.
- Guides & Trails – Qelline Alderleaf can match parties with local guides; Rolf still “knows a road or two” when the price is right.
Food & Drink Notes (Stonehill)
- Dragon’s Breath Melt – A golden, seared sandwich with steam curling from between its halves, the edges crisp and slightly charred. When cut, molten cheese stretches like dragon fire.
- Stonebreaker’s Draught – Served in a heavy clay mug, this drink is a deep, earthy brown with a faint copper sheen. Steam curls off it even though it’s technically “room temperature.”
Security & Readiness
- Militia – Rotating muster led by Sildar and Daran; alarm bells at shrine, inn, and manor.
- Wards & Weapons – Select items from the Forge of Spells are seeded with trusted hands; details are need-to-know to deter theft.
Travel Facts
- Access – Triboar Trail from the High Road; supply wagons daily, guarded caravans twice weekly.
- Nearby Sites – Conyberry (Big Al’s ranch), Icespire Peak (former lair), abandoned abbey roads toward Thundertree, and the sealed Abbathor dig.
