Vician Species in Florenic Worlds | World Anvil

Vician (vI-see-en or vI-shen)

Fiendish Creatures of Inferna

They are born from the pits where they believe all others may burn. They climb a hierarchy, hoping to get pleasure from kicking others down into those tormenting flames. These creatures only respect one thing and that is power. Wield it over them, and they will yield, for a time. Allow them to have power and they shall use it to either torment or subjugate you. They cannot be trusted.

Basic Information

Anatomy

A standard vician has red leathery skin and wings. A tail is also a common feature. A set of horns protrude from their head.

Alternative appearances occur when they get deep into Infernal magic. Their appearance instead shifts into a standard humanoid. Their head becomes goat-like and with four pointed horns at times. Sometimes the head becomes a skull with fire within.

Biological Traits

Infernal Wounds

Most vicians are able to cause Infernal wounds. With either specialized weaponry or able claw, bite, or tail attacks, that’s how one is delivered. Infernal wounds cause a painful burning sensation on the site of a wound. It slowly burns and spreads through the victim until either they die or the would is cured. The more powerful a vician, however, the greater the harm of the wound.

Infernal wounds can only be cured by divine means, such as holy water or blessed healing. Mundane remedies can only stop the spread of it at best.

Growth Rate & Stages

Should a Vician go through their standard growing cycle, they start as small imps. Overtime, as they are creatures of Inferna, the strongest grow the fastest. Soon they’ll reach a period where they are more humanoid in size and acquire a sense of their cunning tongue. The last stage is when they become large beasts with horns. The biggest brutes who can pack a wallop or are more slender genius masterminds.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Power and selfish desire is the only motivation for these heartless creatures. Obedience is only kept to avoid punishment from their superiors. Alternatively, should a lesser be spoiled by, or adore, their superior, the lesser vician will happily serve instead.

Civilization and Culture

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Vicians loathe caels. Their presence is like a light shining down on a dark secret never meant to be known. Vicians know caels are fond of their mortal “pets,” and enjoy killing or, even worse, corrupting those they hold dear.

Though, the presence of a wholesome light and a loving community can be a tempting offer for struggling vicians to reach out and be turned among their hated rivals.
