A Visit from the Institute

At the start to the morning, the party is visited by Mordekai, a tiefling researcher from the AID Institute. He tracked the party from the border village of Bellek to Calvegarde. He was namely interested in adding the rattler to their Anomaly Archive for research purposes. Wrench agreed to it so long as he could have the biggest say in handling the creature.

Conundrum in the University

Hoping to get further answers about this strange poem, the party went to the library. What they consistently found were fragments of the lines in various books but never were they whole as seen with the party's case. The party then found Daniel's old professor, Sylvester Malrose, perusing books in the library. Inquiring him about it, he mentioned about how there is a suspicious professor over the negative planes, Nearis Denitry. There's rumors he has been having meddlings deep beneath the university.

There would be reports about how there's something going on in the basement but everyone would report there was nothing and that they ought to see for themselves. Malrose also insisted that the students were... peculiar... in that they were strangely in sync with the other on handling things.

Into the Basement

After a bit of trial and error, alongside getting Malrose calmed down, the party managed to get in the basement and look into the strangest circumstances they have ever seen. They found themselves in an old dug-in sewage system where winged tieflings were had made camp. The peculiar thing was, none of them spoke; only the tiefling with coiled gazelle-like horns would speak telepathically. If these tieflings did speak, it was also telepathically and only one word at a time.

Into the final room, the party found the tieflings were tapping alongside a music box to keep a massive cocooned creature lying within a king-sized crib asleep and calmed. Demanding answers, Cassius got some of what he wished. The tieflings really revealed themselves to be nightgaunts, strange aversal creatures that look like faceless devils. This strange cult-like gathering sought to ascend to the skies and claim it.

Cassius then clamped the music box shut, causing the nightgaunts to worry as the cocoon began to wriggle. Emerging from it was then an even more disgusting creature, a byakhee as Daniel would know it as. They had woken up the baby and now it's time to deal with the consequences...
