Returning the Skull

The party returns safely to Maleou Village and wait until nightfall.

Clovis’ Recon

Just as the nightfall was coming, Clovis infiltrated into a closed off Divinterre. Guards were ordered to keep a tight watch and to not let anything in or out. Clovis met with a confused villager for a brief bit of shelter and asked what was afoot. It had turned out that the Misty Rider was coming the next day and Couteau worried about something.

Clovis safely returned back to Maleou with the rest of the party.

A Quick Dream…

At nightfall, when you drift away, the air feels sharp. You see the inky-black mists begin to surround Maleou. One shadow arises from the cluster and points toward the village, “There! The Gifted is found!” The foul things then dash forward until the entire place is drowned in horrible darkness.

Day of the Rider

On awakening, the party went down to Riverguard Bridge while the Misty Rider gave chase. Yohgrï held up the skull just as the Rider caught up with them. It then stopped, pacing around the party before reclaiming the skull and riding back up north into the mists…

C O U T E A U !

— Corierro

Returning from the mists was the revenant form of Corierro. With the party behind him, he strode into town and cleaved through those in his way. Once at the cathedral, he confronted Couteau and his Clergy in Red. The party helped in the fighting and Couteau was defeated with the removal of his head by Corierro, who then rode off eastward.

With the Cardinal dead, an uneasy feeling went through the town. Captain Havre tried his utmost to reassure that things were fine. And as the party left the domain of Divinterre, Lieutenant Valerian was foreshadowed for involvement in Divinterre’s future…

Arvura, Domain of the Shattered Monk

Through the great misty veil, it guides you to the face of a wall with a battered door. Stepping through, you quickly find that you’re in the ruins of a fortress, a castle of some sorts. However, you were not the only ones here. Bodies lie scattered around the floors. You can definitely infer some kind of fight broke out based on their attire. One side has pieces of armor and fractured masks while others are cleaner with their robes (if you ignore the stains of bloodshed) and have more whole masks. A wind blows through the hollow fortress, kicking up the dust and debris from outside.

While looking through these ominous ruins, they found one of the monks still barely alive, a tiefling monk named Serene. The party helped her and she mentioned she would happily see them along the roadway just before heading out swiftly.

The party then met Karnell…

Just beyond the other main doorways, you see a figure with long tattered bits of cloth that hang off his wrists and robes that blow against the wind. You can hear the frustration grate against his lungs with each breath he takes. This figure looms over the remains of a few fallen and you can see his fist shake from being balled up so tightly, “You have failed me,” he whispers to himself then looks over to the side, seeing footprints that head down the road, “But perhaps not all is lost…?”

Yohgrï with Karnell, the Grandmaster of the Shattered, about what was going on. The uneasy Grandmaster mentioned that his apprentices and disciples had gone off down the pathway. He hoped to salvage his cluster of monks so he wouldn’t have to start anew.

The rest of the party were uneasy about the situation and insisted on moving onward…
