Paavauhäs Tree

The isthmus connected Kaabara and Cuyania is covered in a swamp from the mountains to the coast. Out of this swamp grow some of the largest trees in the world. Each tree can be up to 400 feet high, and the trunks are 20-30 feet in diameter. Each tree grows out of a twisted pile of roots sapping up water from the swamp. Branches from the trunks tent to be twisted - the arch over paths below, tangle with neighbouring trees, and form a criss-cross like ceiling beams through the canopy of the forest.   The trees have broad, 5-pointed leaves which are shed at the end of autumn, each around 8-10 inches across.
