Karika Valley
The jewel-box of Tanish, though it's amazing anyone spent enough time in here to find that out. This gorge is home to the Agish Mines and the source of much of the wealth of the Kingdom of Tanish, but it's very dangerous to traverse. They say the bottom of the river is filled with the bones of workers who fell from the cliff sides and died after landing in the shallow stream far below.
Geography
Calling it a valley is a misnomer, and it's really more of a gorge. At some points the gorge is only 30 feet wide, and it is 500 feet wide at the most. It runs twenty miles deep, to the base of Blue Mountain and the source of the Retays River.
The Retays river flows out of the gorge. At some points, there is no bank and the river is lined directly by sheer rocky walls. Other parts have small amount of sand beach before the gorge walls head up.
Fauna & Flora
Many bats make their homes on the steep cliff sides, protected by predators. At dawn and dusk, the valley is filled with bats leaving their roosts to feed.
Natural Resources
The gorge is lined in valuable minerals. Not only is it the only known source of lapis lazuli, but it also provides pyrite, diopside, garnet, and dolomite.
