Types of Shops

The economy of our world is heavily reliant on small businesses. Here there’s no large store chains, you won’t see the same stores appearing in all towns all over the world, actually, you’ll rarely ever even see the same store twice. While there are some store chains, such as Peep’Hole stores, most of them are small shops, whose owners make all the products themselves. Of course still, there are a few different kinds of businesses you’ll see across our world.

Small Crafter Shop

This is one of the most common types of shops you’ll find in our world. They sell everything from clothing, jewelry, furniture, toys, different household items, cosmetics, foods and just about anything else you can craft with your own hands.

These shops have one of a few owners who make all of the products sold in these shops themselves. These items tend to be pretty expensive, but really that’s just how prices are in our world. People sell stuff at high prices, earn a lot of money, and are able to spend more money so it’s kinda whatever.

Don’t be surprised to find a lot of these shops work on a limited opening time, but don’t worry too much about it. Most shops offer their items on shopping platforms such as Shopsy.

Supply Shops

These shops are similar ro Crafter Shops, but are focused on selling supplies and materials. You’ll see a lot of those in towns, where a lot of supplies and materials have to be imported from other places of the world. These sell everything from food ingredients, fabrics, wood, paints, half products and any kind of raw materials you could possibly need for creating.

A lot of more established crafters may order their supplies straight from the suppliers, but our world is full of hobbyists and less serious crafters who like a convenient way to get supplies for their crafts.

These shops are often owned by single families, who are sometimes in some way or another related to families of Fairy Gardens that supply them with their products. For example, one of the members of a family that works on a wheat farm may choose to move to a town elsewhere in the world, where they open a flour shop, selling exclusively the flour made at their original wheat farm. Either way, a lot of these shop owners are connected to specific Farms in Fairy Gardens or Ä+*4~, and only sell supplies from those specific Farms.

Resellers

While a lot of shop owners sell their own handcrafted products, you’ll see many shops reselling products that they didn’t make themselves. There are a few different types of these reseller shops.

“Cheap” Shops

There are times when handcrafted items aren’t your best option. Sometimes you just need a plain t-shirt to wear to bed or around the house during the rainy season, sometimes you just need a pencil to make a quick note, and sometimes you just need some toilet paper. In these, and many other occasions, you don’t need a specially designed and handcrafted item, but just something to get the job done real quick. In these situations you will wanna go to one of these stores who sell items that are not handcrafted by the owners, but bought and resold in these shops. Majority of these items are mass produced in factories of T@Ö#Ä3, but can come from Ä+*4~ as well. These items are cheap, and are often considered to be of lower quality. Beware especially of the items labeled as “made in T@Ö#Ä3”. These are particularly cheaply made by robots of T@Ö#Ä3 and Industrial Area, who aren’t that concerned about moles and their needs.

Technology and Appliances

But while a lot of T@Ö#Ä3 items are considered to be cheaply made and of low quality, some of the highest quality items come from the same place. Robots don’t know that much about the aesthetic preferences and biological needs of moles, but they do know technology. They produce some of the top tier Smart Devices, appliances, tools, vehicles and similar products that just can’t be hand crafted. These as well are commonly imported and sold through these reseller shops. Not that there aren’t a few shops in T@Ö#Ä3 who sell handcrafted smartphones, but even those will have to get the proper parts from Industrial Area.

Other

Of course, it’s not only either cheap items or technology that gets sold in these shops, there is a wide variety of items that can’t or don’t need to be handcrafted, especially things like book, office supplies, a lot of clothing, household or hobby items.

Because these shops rely on importing items from other places, rather than crafting the items themselves, the ownership isn’t very specifically tied to one person. You are more likely to see these same shops in different towns of the world. One of these examples is the shop Peep’Hole. It has its headquarters in Central Area of Ä+*4~, but you can find Peep’Hole shops all over the Central Area and outside of it. These shops all do have their own owners who pay a fee to the company owners, to be allowed to run a store under their brand. Most of these shops work in the same way.
