Legend of Sewer Man

What is he?

A legend says there deep down in sewers, there is a creature called Sewer Man floating around. He’s a very mysterious figure; not many know about him, and the ones that do, don’t know much about him.

Generally, he is depicted to be tall and slim, completely wrapped up in toilet paper like some disturbing mummy.

It’s not exactly clear where he came from, so right now people can’t exactly agree on whether he is actually alive right now, or in the state of undeath. He could be just a very disturbed person living in sewers, or he could even be a ghost - or maybe not a Sewer Man at all but some strange paranormal entity.

Where did he come from?

No one agrees exactly on where Sewer Man came from, or who he was before, though most agree that he had to have been a troubled man to end up in his current state. Many agree that he most likely lived in East T@Ö#Å3, where his story is best known, though he has been seen in other parts of the world.

One theory says that he got himself into some sort of illegal trouble and needed to hide. His attempt to hide would lead him to underground settlements, such as Neon Maze, and eventually even into sewers where he lives now. Others say he didn’t get there willingly, but was forced into sewers by the people he got in trouble with, whoever that might be. East T@Ö#Å3 is full of shady people and illegal organizations, so it wouldn’t be hard to piss someone off and get forced to live in sewers.

Of course, he could be running away from a number of different things, not necessarily involving any illegal organizations. So, another theory says that this man actually killed himself by flushing himself down the toilet (however that might work), and either got lost down there, or is simply trying to hide from Silver Man and Woman, so he won’t be taken to Hell.

Another one of the popular theories says that he simply went insane one day, either due to use of some or the other substance found in T@Ö#Å3 or otherwise, and felt compelled to retreat into sewers for reasons beyond our understanding.

What does he do down there?

Well here’s the thing - we don’t know what Sewer Man could possibly be doing down there in the sewers. There is really no good reason for people to go roaming around sewers, so Sewer Man has all the privacy in the world to do whatever he pleases down there.

As it appears, Sewer Man has no ill intentions, he just wants to be left alone down in the sewers, and only appears occasionally to ask people to feed him. Feed him what exactly though? Some say he feeds on, well, whatever typically gets flushed down the toilet, but many prefer to believe that he would rather eat some normal food. For this reason, people will sometimes flush food down the toilet, just to be safe.

Other than that, we really don’t know. However the idea of anyone living in the sewers, and the possibility of them finding themselves in your toilet is terrifying in any case.

Surely there’s a reasonable explanation though?

Of course, as it is with any of these mysterious and potentially paranormal entities, many people believe that there is a lot more reasonable explanation.

Maybe there is no one living in sewers at all, and all the strange sounds people claim to hear are just a consequence of poorly made or old plumbing, or sounds from other apartments. There’s not much to say here, people just need to stop jumping to paranormal conclusions any time they hear strange sounds that might be easily explained.

There is a possibility though, that there isn’t only one Sewer Man, but more of them. The legend of Sewer Man seems to be very closely related to underground settlements of East and West T@Ö#Å3, where we already know all sorts of strange dealings take place. Though there seems to be no rules as it is, there are things too disturbing even for places as notorious as Neon Maze. For things like that, people would have to go even deeper, and retreat into sewers to do whatever shady stuff they’re up to. It’s very possible that, when talking about the Sewer Man, people really only heard these shady people doing their shady business in sewers.

Another very popular explanation that should be mentioned though, is that the whole thing is faked. There are people who go into sewers and make noise just for fun and to mess with people. There is no real Sewer Man, he was created by these cheeky pranksters pretending to be sewer man. Which is extremely possible, especially in a weird place like East T@Ö#Å3.
