Fargrow Depths
Underworld Gateway
In eras long past Fargrow was home to the gnomish kingdoms. In these times, the gnomes experimented with weaponizing magic. The potency of these weapons outclassed even the grandest archmages at the time, sparking envy and even fear in the countries neighboring Fargrow. What if the gnomes were to turn such weapons on their allies? A single elf, hoping to steal the secrets of such power, would accidentally cause one of these weapons to detonate, sparking a catastrophic chain reaction. In an instant, the gnomish kingdoms were reduced to nothing more than a massive crater many kilometers in diameter, an eerie path into the depths below. Trailing along its many winding crevices, one may find themselves entering the depths of the Underdark. Survivors from this conflict would escape to the farthest lands they could find. Those on the surface would go on to form the principality of Sud, while other survivors escaped deep into the Underdark, eventually becoming Deep Gnomes.
The crater today serves as a form of portal into the Underdark, a gateway to the world and caverns beneath. Rising up from this open blast zone as peaceful envoys, the Myconids have constructed a residence in the ruins and cliffsides. Gigantic fluorescent mushrooms creep up along the walls of the pit, serving as stalks which would act as the buildings and homes for this fungal city, known as Umberhul. The peaceful Myconids settled their new surface hoping to escape from the horrors below.
Irradiated Waterways
Rancid poisons brew in the many pools of the swamps, the waters mixing with mud and clay to give a toxic green or even crimson color. Over thousands of years, the virulent magics and radiation from the blast site have seeped into the surrounding area, corrupting plant and beast alike. Home of countless aberrations, it is unknown if they were lost experiments from ancient kingdoms, or evolved beasts in this horrid new ecosystem.
