Czeslaw Taron-bal, nephew to the late Namatius Taron-Bal, stepped forward into a tumultuous time in Elkus's history. Coming off the back of a grand tragedy, the people had barely recovered and had little trust in their new leader. Upon the inheritance of the title, communication was scarce with the leadership in part to the changing of powers, in part to the mystery behind the new Baron. This was only multiplied due to the lack of information surrounding the new Baron, few had even heard of Czeslaw, fewer knew of his agenda. To the people, he was an enigmatic figure that now held dominion over them, and naturally, there was great cause for concern. Seeing this, Czeslaw refused to clear the air, instead of proving his cold dominance over the land and the security of his people. The militia was reinforced, hunting guilds were founded and funded, and the old schools of the huntsmen were revitalized all under his watch. The evils of Elkus were slowly pushed back from the gates of Taron-bal, and with them the doubts of this new figure. Some critics still debate about his intentions, citing increased activities in the city alleys, but few doubt his strategic mind and ability to lead. His stoic aura is often off-putting, and his direct way of speaking has earned him the title "The Frozen Gale".
Encroaching Alleys
Taron-bal's gates remain unsieged, but the same cannot be said for its alleys. Theives stalk the streets, taking every opportunity they can find now that the guards are focused elsewhere. A surprising lack of addressing on this front has called into question if Czeslaw has made deals with underworld guilds, and whenever challenged on this he always retorts about his focus on survival.Remove these ads.
