Port Yertle

Port Yertle is a city located on the tropical seacoast, where the vegetation is sparse. Port Yertle grew around a coastal harbor, and is comprised mostly of humans, elves with a few dwarfs and half-orcs.   A remembrance for soldiers lost in war is currently taking place.

Points of interest

The nearest landmark is a cliff face with geometric crystal structures jutting out of the side. This cliff face, known as the "Sparkling Heart", makes for a glorious display late evenings. The sun catches the crystals just right, and some say if you are close enough, you can hear angelic choirs sing their songs of praise to the gods.   The habour is known as the Saltend Piers, and this is where most trade comes from.

Architecture

The architecture of Port Yertle is in the classical Cycladic style. Small white-washed square buildings are stacked very close to on another on the hillside. Various accent colors are used to depict the intention of a building or structure.
  • Blue - Residential Homes
  • Red - Taverns and Inns
  • Green - General Merchants and Traders
  • Yellow - Blacksmiths
  • Orange - Goverment Buildings
Churches and places of faith have no accenting, or some accent in white.

Geography

Port Yertle is a port city, built on beautiful rolling hills. Their are some spotted trees, but no big forests around the area. The climb from Port Yertle, at the bottom of the large hill, to the top, is fairly challenging. As such there is quite a bit of traffic during the peak times, whilst carts slowly make their way down the large hillside.   The sea is a very deep clear blue ocean, and parts of the "Old City" can be seen whilst sailing into the harbour, known as the Saltend Piers.

Natural Resources

The area is very well known for it's fishing of mackerel and pike. Fish and sheep are the main exports of the region, whilst the port itself also deals in wood from the forest, although not at the scale that Timberborn exports wood.
Port Yertle wasn't always a port city, and was once build against a lush mountain range. After the First War broke the world, and the land masses shifted, Port Yertle was thrusted into the ocean, and evolved into the bustling port that it is today. Half of the "Old City" as it is called, is sunken beneath the waves. Various towers, spirals and buildings stand out of the water.   These obstructions in the water, as well as any hidden dangers, make it quite precarious for boats to enter the harbour, and as such the boats can only enter and exit, two boats at a time. The hardbour uses two large streets to direct boats to and from the harbour. These two streets we're some of the larger and busier streets when Port Yertle was land bound. Any other boats that wish to enter the city, do so on a queing system. Boats wait at the edge of the "Old City" for their turn to enter.
