Description

The Morphex crystal is a small crystalline pendant that, when worn, magically transforms its wearer into another predetermined form.

History

The Morphex crystal first appeared in the possession of Harridan, who used it to pretend to be a heroine known as Candy Scrapper in order to enter The Sanctuary without being noticed. It is unknown how Harridan came to be in possession of the crystal, or for that matter, if Candy Scrapper is a genuine heroine, or simply a purely fictitious identity. However, given that neither Harridan nor Demetria had magical abilites, it seems unlikely they were able to program the crystal for this particular transformation. (Doubly so since Harridan appeared to lack the whimsy to willingly choose to impersonate such a heroine.)

Known Transformations

• Harridan into Candy Scrapper
• Prodigy into Candy Scrapper, to infiltrate the Sanctuary {facility}
• Caleb Shapiro, initially into Candy Scrapper. Enchantrix then dressed in civilian clothes (may have been her own magic). Finally, she reprogrammed the crystal to turn Caleb into Hissyfit.

Usage

Using the Morphex crystal is as simple as putting it on, at which point the transformation is instantaneous. The user is immediately changed into whatever pre-programmed form has been encoded into the crystal. Even non-magical individuals can use it.
The duration of the transformation seems to vary. Prodigy's transformation into Candy Scrapper lasted at most a couple hours. However, Caleb's transformation into Candy Scrapper (and subsequently into Hissyfit) lasted over 24 hours. Whether that's because Trixie did something to extend the magic, or because the transformation was less drastic ("teen guy to teen girl" rather than "adult man to teen girl") is unclear.
Also of note is that Caleb was unable to remove (or even perceive) the crystal during his transformation, suggesting that it needed to run its course much like it did with Prodigy. However, since Enchantrix was able to remove the crystal with ease, and Harridan presumably was able to do so as well, so it seems more likely that there is a trick to removing the crystal that Trixie chose not to share with Caleb.
