Djepesut
Djepesut was the largest city and regional capital of Uharhia under the Celestian Theocracy. It was also a cornerstone of trade for Asada as a whole and received visitors and business from all over Eurra.
In the spring of 1436 UE, the city was attacked by demons just before the arrival of the Bad Luck Blitzkrieg adventuring party. They proceeded to ply their knowledge of another demon attack and a journal of secret plots to the ruling bishop in hopes of preventing further incidents.
Government
The city and its attendant lands are currently ruled by Bishop Citrine, who serves nominally as the regional governor of all Uharhia, though very little of the land is actively under Theocracy control. Below the Bishop is a pool of appointed advisors selected by Citrine himself that help him to administrate the city.
Assets
The nearby mountain range serves as a major source of income due to quarries of high quality stone used for important structures.
Guilds and Factions
- Stonecutter's Guild: One of the major independent factions of Djepesut based around the extensive quarry grounds in the nearby mountain ranges. They represent the quarrymen to perspective buyers to arrange contracts for harvesting stone of particular quality and quantity measured against terms for labor, pay, and injury claims.
- Merchant Chapterhouse: A chartered group of merchants within the borders of the city that seek mutual benefits and profits through strategically controlling the flow of goods and trade.
- Caravanner's League: Alliance of caravan leaders and mercenary bands that act as security during travel along the desert routes of Uharhia.
- The Cross Chiselers: The local criminal element operating in and around the area of Djepesut.
History
Djepesut was founded originally as an outpost of the Miropan Empire. Just as now, it was a major source of fine quality stone which was used for building structures of the Empire ranging from pharaonic palaces to tombs. Like many places in Asada, Djepesut fell to chaos and abandonment during much of the Anarchy.
Centuries later as the Theocracy began to expand, Djepesut was recolonized for the new building projects the government instituted to restore infrastructure on the mainland. Since then it has become the largest settlement on Uharhia and the base of power for the region.
Architecture
The majority of the city is constructed of small stones and/or baked mud bricks finished with plaster facing that can then be decorated with whitewash or paint. Wood, while not rare, is not used extensively as a core building material.
Geography
The city is built into the foothills of the mountains on the northeastern tip of Uharhia. To the south and west a great savannah of scrubland and sparse trees stretches for some distance until meeting the fringes of the Restless Dunes. The city also has the benefit of close proximity of the channel between the mainland and sub-continent as a point for water transit and trade.
