Marc discovers a box in his fathers study that contains information about his past and true identity.

While preparing to leave for college, Marc sneaks into his fathers office to steal some supplies from him, only to find a mysterious box with "Marc's Baby Stuff" written on it in marker. Inside he finds baby pictures and other random memorabilia, but inside is also a letter and pair of strange medallions.   The letter is written from a woman claiming to be his mother, and speaks of things like elves and demons and a war in another dimension, and refers to him as "Markail". It reads like an excerpt from a fantasy novel, or the ramblings of a crazy person, but Marc cannot figure out why his parents would keep such a letter.
