Historians' Guild

The Historians' Guild was originally an unnamed museum staff run by an adventurer who studied the properties of artifacts and the evolution of equipment from legendary figures through time. This museum was formerly known as the Arcane Depository and Historical Bazaar. It was a center for trade-ins of valuable historical items or items that will become historically valuable in the future. An appraiser would make the customer an offer for their items, and they would be displayed in the West wing. The adventurer in charge of the establishment was a lesser-known Copulan revolutionary, a Dragonborn who fled to Fahiamel chasing an unknown goal. The crew was small and rarely introduced change, including no more than 15 members at any time.   After the Arcane Depository, named Arcane because so many of the historical items were magically influenced, had become influential enough they declared independence from local politics and a noninvolvement policy in conflict. A public declaration that they would not expand outside of their territory protected them from most attacks, and this was necessary since few of the members of its staff were capable of defending against high-level opponents. They became a Guild after the passing of their founder dedicated to the preservation of history within the Depository. The group became an egalitarian group of independents, who used some of the artifacts in the guild's possession to defend it while carrying on the tradition of the museum and expanding their studies to farther reaches of the world. Some members of the Historians' Guild traveled afar to begin smaller posts in the name of the Depository. The people of this group were rarely violent but did not hesitate to kill any attacker in any number, regardless of their motivation. Tribes attempting to reclaim their ancestors and forefathers' sacred and religious items, some merely sentimental and integral pieces of their culture, have been massacred in self-defense as the Depository grew.   The Arcane Depository was later named after its founder, though it's still recognized by both names nearly universally throughout Fahiamel. The Thera Derrlio Repository referred to his greatest achievement in life, the founding of a guild that would live on for generations. The guild itself was founded as far back as 358E, though the exact date is unknown. Today the guild's structures are seen throughout Fahiamel, in small Historians' Outposts where items of significance can be sold to later be shipped to the Depository. They also feature recruiters and defense camps and have no clear motivations outside of obtaining and preserving history through its items and stories. There have been scandals in the past where the guild assists in lawless action in exchange for items of high historical value.

Structure

Despite their values of equality, the guild features a distinct and simple hierarchy detailing the Head Historian as the executive head of the guild. This title essentially means guild master. Other ranks include architects, responsible for handling and researching artifacts, and defenders, responsible for keeping their assets safe. The members are recognized hierarchically by their experience, namely years within the organization. First years are typically ostracized, Tenth years are considered fully-fledged members. The title Grandfather is attributed to anyone who is in the organization for over 50 years and has taken an oath to commit their life to the guild.

Now is product of then.
