Cineral Mocit
Raised under a roof of branches and leaves, Cineral was born penniless in the Lower Deserts. She was the only girl in the care of Mocit, a Tabaxi elderly who cared for children who had been abandoned. Cineral was a shifter unknowing of her origin, brought into the world with a body and stripped of a leg and eye in infancy. Through unknown means, the child survived and was found on a dirt road by Mocit soon after. The household was a simple life where the children were taught to craft and work, and to earn their keep. The early life of Cineral consisted of education, household chores, and the exploration of the flute.
When Cineral was 4 (about 10 years in modern time) the caretaker Tabaxi died of an unknown illness in old age, and the other boys of the house had already left. She was alone with two Lizardfolk twins who traveled out with her to the deserts in search of a means for survival. At these times the plains and swamps are dangerous, and the deserts are regarded as lawless. But there are fewer dangers in the wilderness. Less wildlife, fewer people, colleges, and opportunities. The passage to the Upper Deserts was expensive, they couldn't afford a safe trip. The Lizardfolk twins helped to smuggle Cineral into a shipment bound for the port of Ullite containing spices and salt. The twins tried to get on after her but were caught by a deckhand and sent to prison in Sahra's Capital City.
The Lizardfolk went on to find work in Sahra as craftsmen, and Cineral was sentenced to death in Ullite when she was discovered on the ship at port. She had to resort to her bestial appearance to escape, slipping out from the confines of the port prison and fleeing the town. Shifters are incredibly rare, so this transformation was thought to be a spell by onlookers. The escape wasn't so simple though, by the time she had ample opportunity she had already been branded with the prison's emblem, and shackled by the wrists. Shed arrived helpless at the Eagle Association's Temple of Eaman with a ragged tunic and an empty stomach. They took her in and fed and clothed the prisoner, but refused to grant a convict further asylum, releasing them into the desert with a waterskin and dagger.
Cineral later joined into a small tribe of Vedalken and spent her years from 5 to 6 (around 11-15 in modern years) learning about their history, culture, and arts. They taught her magic after realizing a natural affinity. She stumbled down the path of a Wizard and applied to the College of Brackehail, but was denied on the grounds that they were a condemned prisoner. She then forged a new identity for herself as Poal Idare and burnt the emblem off of her arm, and went where her name wasn't known to the College of Mornhaven. She was admitted and underwent a 2-year (around 5 in modern years) education in spellcasting and science, receiving a Scholar's Diploma and returning to her tribe. Remaining with her people until age 7 (around 17 in modern years), her tribe was massacred by an Il Vire commander attempting to claim the land as their own to construct a second home for Duke Reagame, a political figurehead from the Reagame royal bloodline. The Reagame is classified as royalty to Il Vire because of their direct lineage to Masoabi. Polias Reagame, the Duke, was widely regarded for his anti-conformist views and influence on social expectation.
Cineral did not attempt to avenge the tribe, knowing that in her current position there was no chance of opposing Il Vire royalty. She began scavenging the deserts and later joined forces with a small bandit crew that went by the Scraps. The Arcane Depository was her primary source of income, she would hunt for valuable items and artifacts and trade them off to make a living. She also traded furs and animal ingredients for a short time. By the age of 9 (about 22 in modern years), she had become versed in combat and was established at the Depository as a collector, eventually earning her a position working with the Museum. After joining up with the Depository and joining the Historians' Guild, she was assigned to a small squad responsible for retrieving mythological items, or tracking down folk tales and recording their findings.
Working her way up the ladder with time, Cineral was widely regarded as the greatest collector in the Depository's history. She became a defender after 10 years with the Guild, completing her path as fully-fledged member. By age 34, after 25 years of service, she was promoted to the rank of Head Historian ahead of many senior ranking members due to her incredible conviction and prowess.
