Purple Dragons

The Purple Dragons are the standing army of the Kingdom of Cormyr. Widely renowned for their skill and professionalism, they are considered to be one of the most powerful armies in Faerûn, and possibly on Toril. Unlike many other armies, the Purple Dragons are a purely volunteer force, open to recruiting any citizen of Cormyr. While average citizens joined into the enlisted ranks, the nobility became officers within the Purple Dragons, known as Purple Dragon Knights, and young nobles were actively expected to join the force once they came of age.
