Dawn was born as the next in line to lead the Ashen Alliance. She was a sweet girl, raised by two caring parents. They kept her away from the action for a majority of her childhood, and instead focused on teaching her how to hone her psychic abilities. She was talented, just like her mother, and all the women that came before her. She helped prevent so many needless deaths in Asheville with her visions and, eventually, her skills.
She was so incredibly well-rounded. Socially and academically capable, physically fit and agile enough to handle any weapon that was given to her. She could easily transition from being dressed for homecoming to using a machete to slice up a feral monstrosity and not get a drop of blood on her dress. Dawn had everything, and she felt like it too. She was, as you would say, a strong independent woman. Everything was going so perfect for her, she ran the Alliance with some help from her mother and cousins. Living on her own, taking life into her own hands. What she didn't expect was to run into such a handsome man while shopping for birthday presents.
Standing on the other side of the hardware counter, his cheeks seemed to flush the moment they met eyes. She couldn't help but smile, and when they struck up conversation she only seemed to be more intrigued. She invited him to hang out sometime, and sometime then turned into every week when they went on walks around the park. And soon enough, there were matching bands on their fingers. Walking hand in hand through the door to their new home. Happily married she now had someone to run the Alliance with which made things go even more smoothly. She was able to have the perfect balance of mundane and monster hunter life. And when she conceived Ryder, she had one of the most vivid visions she had ever had. Her son was destined for great things. To lead the heroes of the future.
So whenever he recused himself from everyone she felt, for the first time, confusion about the future. Things had always gone her way, why was this the one thing that didn't? She was not, and still isn't, sure how to deal with it. So she tries to fix it and encourage him more towards his destiny which seems to not work so well. Even still she works her hardest to be a good mother and wife while running the monster hunts. Since her visions have gotten weak, she now relies on Ryder to keep propelling their peaceful life.
